Senior Mining Engineer (Studies)

Greater London, England, United Kingdom Full-time Posted 1 week ago

Shape more than mine plans - shape decisions, projects, and your career

Ready to rethink what your next step looks like in 2026?

If you’re starting to ask for more - more variety, more influence, more meaningful work, consulting could be the move that unlocks it.

Many engineers hesitate, thinking consulting means stepping away from “real” mining.

With Palaris, it’s the opposite. You stay deeply technical while expanding the scale and impact of the problems you solve.

Why This Role Stands Out

Join a nimble, high-impact team and be part of a specialist group where you’re not just another name on a resourcing sheet. You’ll work closely with experienced leaders, contribute directly to outcomes, and have your views heard.

Move beyond single-site repetition. You’ll engage in diverse, technically complex projects spanning multiple commodities, mining methods, and geographies.

Influence real decisions because your work won’t sit on a shelf. You’ll contribute to:

  • Due diligence for major investments
  • Feasibility and optimisation studies
  • Strategic project decisions that shape operations and portfolios

About Us

Palaris is a specialist advisory firm to the mining and resources sector across the world. With over 5,000 projects delivered in over 50 countries across 20 different commodity types, we are the trusted advisor to resource companies, financial institutions, equity investors, and government agencies.

Our service delivery is across independent advisory, due diligences, technical and mine optimisation studies, engineering and asset management, project services, safety, health & risk, and decarbonisation.

About the Role

You’ll work across the full project lifecycle, connecting technical decisions with operational and financial outcomes.

If you enjoy solving complex problems and staying hands-on without the bureaucracy and politics of large operations, this role is built for you.

Based in Perth, Australia or London, UK, you’ll play a key role in our Metals team, delivering:

  • Mine design, planning, and optimisation studies
  • Technical due diligence and project evaluations
  • Feasibility and strategic studies
  • Decarbonisation and sustainability-focused initiatives

What You’ll Gain

  • Breadth: Exposure across commodities, geographies, and project stages
  • Challenge: Complex, non-routine engineering problems
  • Impact: Direct influence on investment and operational decisions
  • Future-ready skills: Experience in due diligence and decarbonisation
  • Balance: City-based with flexibility and no FIFO, just occasional site travel
  • Commercial focus: Build commercial acumen, client exposure, and strategic thinking without losing touch with the technical work you enjoy.

What We’re Looking For

  • Mining Engineering degree with strong operational and/or planning background
  • Experience across base and/or precious metals
  • Exposure to open pit and underground mining
  • Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary inputs (geotech, hydro, etc.)
  • Proficiency in medium- to long-term mine planning tools
  • Experience leading studies, optimisation, or technical projects
  • Exposure to feasibility studies (highly regarded)
  • International or multi-commodity experience (preferred)
