Role Description The Senior Neuromonitoring Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role involves planning and performing intra-operative multi-modality neuromonitoring for a range of surgical procedures, including spine, neurosurgical, vascular, and other complex operations. The specialist will set up and operate neuromonitoring equipment, acquire and interpret neurophysiological data in real time, and communicate findings to the surgical and anesthesia teams to support intra-operative decision making. Daily responsibilities include reviewing patient histories, documenting procedures and outcomes, maintaining high-quality clinical records, and ensuring adherence to relevant clinical and safety protocols. The role also includes mentoring junior staff, participating in case reviews, and supporting continuous improvement in neuromonitoring practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in intra-operative neuromonitoring and neurophysiology, with experience in multi-modality monitoring (e.g., EEG, EMG, SSEP, MEP, D-wave, Cranial IOM).
- Strong clinical skills in interpreting neurophysiological data and providing timely, clear communication to surgical and anesthesia teams.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting advanced neuromonitoring systems and related equipment in an operating room environment.
- Solid understanding of surgical procedures commonly requiring neuromonitoring, relevant anatomy, and neurophysiological principles.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure clinical settings, make sound decisions, and maintain focus during long or complex surgeries.
- Experience mentoring or training junior neuromonitoring professionals and contributing to team-based case review and learning.
- Excellent documentation, organization, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and compliance with clinical standards.
- Relevant academic background such as a degree in neurophysiology, biomedical science, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in intra-operative neuromonitoring or clinical neurophysiology (or eligibility/strong willingness to obtain) is highly beneficial.
