Senior Product Developer, Shoes

Job description:

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Product Developer, Shoes plays a pivotal role in bringing Burberry’s footwear collections to life. Based within the Product Development team, this role leads the end‑to‑end development process, partnering closely with Design, Engineering and our global vendor network. With craft, technical expertise and commercial awareness, in this role you will help translate creative vision into beautifully executed products that meet the highest standards of quality, timing and margin.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner closely with the Design team, acting as the technical counterpart to translate creative intent into commercially viable footwear.
• Lead the end‑to‑end development of prototypes and samples, ensuring delivery on time, on cost and to Burberry quality standards.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with external vendors, understanding capabilities and aligning on expectations throughout development.
• Proactively identify risks across the critical path and drive solutions to maintain momentum and design integrity.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering to support testing, balancing technical requirements with aesthetic intent.
• Coach and support Product Development Assistants, contributing to capability building across the team.

PERSONAL PROFILE

• Strong technical expertise in footwear development, including materials, leather techniques, structures and construction.
• Proven ability to work in close partnership with designers, offering credible solutions and confident technical guidance.
• Commercially aware, with experience managing cost, margin and budget considerations alongside creativity.
• Clear and persuasive communicator, comfortable working across cross‑functional teams and external partners.
• Detail‑oriented and organised, with the ability to manage complex timelines and maintain accurate systems data.
• Fluency in Italian, with the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
