Senior Software Engineer | π Belfast (Hybrid) | π° Competitive salary + benefits TeamFeePay (TFP) is one of the biggest grassroots football club management platforms in the UK. We support over 2,000 football clubs and 250,000+ coaches, players, parents and guardians on the platform, and we're now expanding into Italy, Spain and the rest of Europe. We're a scale-up growing rapidly, and engineering is core to that growth. β About our Engineering Team We're organised into three squads: Pitchside Experience, Clubhouse Experience and Platform. Together, we build the products, services and infrastructure that help grassroots football clubs run more effectively. Our engineers work across mobile applications, web experiences, backend services, payments and infrastructure. We value collaboration across squads, shared ownership and finding the right technical solutions to real problems. We're looking for experienced engineers who can bring strong technical skills, sound judgement and a willingness to learn. You don't need to have worked with our exact technology stack before, and we don't ask for formal qualifications or degree requirements for any of our engineering roles. π Your day-to-day β’ Take ownership of designing, building and delivering high-quality software, from understanding the problem through to production. β’ Solve complex and ambiguous technical challenges, balancing quality, simplicity, performance and maintainability. β’ Make sound technical decisions, understanding trade-offs and knowing when a straightforward solution is better than a more complex one. β’ Work closely with product managers, designers and other engineers to turn ideas and problems into practical, deliverable solutions. β’ Contribute to technical design and architecture, helping shape how our systems evolve as we grow. β’ Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code, and help establish good engineering practices. β’ Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions and knowledge sharing. β’ Take responsibility for the quality, reliability and ongoing improvement of the software you help deliver. π€© You should apply if β’ You have strong professional software engineering experience and a track record of delivering high-quality software. β’ You're confident working in at least one area of software engineering, whether that's frontend, backend, mobile, infrastructure or across the full stack. β’ You can take ownership of complex technical problems, work through ambiguity and deliver solutions with minimal direction. β’ You understand good software design principles and can make pragmatic decisions about architecture, performance, scalability and maintainability. β’ You're comfortable learning new technologies and working outside your primary area of expertise when needed. β’ You have a product mindset: you care about the problems we're solving and the experience of the people using our software, not just the code you're writing. β’ You communicate clearly, collaborate well with others and can explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical colleagues. β’ You enjoy mentoring other engineers, sharing knowledge and helping raise engineering standards across your team. You don't need experience with every technology we use. We're more interested in your engineering fundamentals, ability to solve problems and willingness to learn than whether you've worked with a particular framework or language. π οΈ What you'll be working on Our technology stack includes: β’ Ruby on Rails for our backend services and APIs β’ PostgreSQL for our database layer β’ React Native for our mobile applications β’ React for our evolving web frontend, alongside Rails with Turbo, Hotwire and Stimulus β’ Stripe to power membership payments, club shops and fundraising β’ Heroku for our current infrastructure, with plans to move to a new platform Depending on your strengths and the needs of the team, you could be working on customer-facing features, backend services, payments, infrastructure or a combination of these. We're also evolving our architecture and infrastructure as we scale, so there are opportunities to influence technical decisions and help shape the future of our platform. π Level & career progression We're hiring at IC3 (Senior Engineer) on our engineering career ladder. At this level, you'll be a technical anchor within your squad, taking ownership of complex, open-ended problems and helping others deliver their best work. You'll be expected to exercise independent technical judgement, contribute to the direction of your team's work and have a positive influence on engineering quality and practices. We interview across our engineering career framework, so if you're unsure exactly where your experience fits, talk to our recruiter and we'll figure it out together.
