Team Leader
Team Leader – Paignton
£16.00 per hour | 42 hours per week | 36 hours in service + 6 protected admin hours | Specialist 2:1 support
Are you an experienced Support Worker or Senior looking for the next step into leadership?
We are looking for a confident, calm and committed Team Leader to lead a small, dedicated team supporting one adult with autism and learning disabilities in his own home in the Paignton area.
The role is contracted at 42 hours per week, made up of:
- 36 hours working within the service
- 6 protected administration hours to complete Team Leader responsibilities
The individual receives 2:1 support throughout the day and night, with additional staffing at identified times to support specific needs and activities.
This is not a traditional residential care role. You will be supporting one person in his own home, enabling him to maintain his routines, access the community and enjoy a good quality of life with a consistent team around him.
The individual has his own vehicle for community access, so you will need to hold a full driving licence and be confident driving as part of the role. You will not be required to use your own vehicle for work purposes.
The individual benefits from familiar staff, clear routines, consistency and a calm approach. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of trust, communication and continuity.
You will combine hands-on support with leadership responsibilities, including rotas, staff development, supervisions, competency checks, spot check and ensuring the team consistently follows care plans, risk assessments and Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and supporting a small, dedicated care team.
- Providing hands-on support with daily routines, activities and community access.
- Promoting independence, choice and quality of life.

- Using protected admin hours to complete Team Leader responsibilities.
- Completing staff supervisions, competency checks and support visits.
- Supporting new starters through induction.
- Identifying training and development needs within the team.
- Working alongside the Area Service Manager to review care plans and risk assessments.
- Supporting medication governance and accurate record keeping.
- Liaising with family members and professionals where required.
- Ensuring changes in health, presentation or support needs are appropriately recorded and escalated.
- Providing contingency shift cover where required.
- Working alternate weekends as part of the rota.
