About Ordtek

Ordtek is a specialist provider of unexploded ordnance risk management services across marine and offshore environments.

We support clients throughout the project lifecycle, from early-stage risk assessment and survey planning through to target investigation, mitigation, client representation, ALARP certification and residual-risk management.

Our work spans offshore wind, electricity interconnectors, subsea telecommunications, oil and gas, pipelines, marine construction and other offshore infrastructure markets.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Tender Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality, competitive tender submissions and support the continued growth of the business.

This is a key role within the commercial function, taking ownership of the tender process from initial opportunity assessment through to submission and contract award. You will work closely with technical, operational, finance and commercial colleagues to develop compelling proposals that clearly demonstrate our capability, experience and value to clients.

Alongside managing live tenders, you will play an important role in strengthening our wider bid processes, improving governance, maintaining tender resources and using feedback and lessons learned to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of our submissions.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end tender process for Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Invitations to Tender (ITTs), prequalification questionnaires (PQQs), expressions of interest and other procurement opportunities.
  • Review tender documentation to identify client requirements, submission criteria, scope, risks, contractual considerations and compliance obligations.
  • Develop and manage tender programmes, including bid/no-bid reviews, responsibilities, deadlines, internal reviews and approvals.
  • Coordinate contributions from technical teams, operations, finance and external partners to produce accurate, deliverable and fully compliant submissions.
  • Develop clear, persuasive and client-focused proposals that communicate our technical capability, commercial value, experience and differentiators.
  • Draft, edit and quality-assure non-technical content, maintaining a consistent and professional corporate tone.
  • Manage the structure, formatting, presentation and overall quality of tender documentation.
  • Maintain and continually improve tender templates, case studies, project experience, qualifications information and the wider tender library.
  • Manage tender activity through client procurement portals and act as a central point of coordination throughout the submission process.
  • Coordinate appropriate review of contractual, legal and commercial terms with internal stakeholders and external advisors where required.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, tender and outcome information within the company's CRM and sales systems.
  • Lead post-tender reviews and capture client feedback, lessons learned and improvement opportunities.
  • Analyse tender performance and outcomes to identify trends and opportunities to improve future win rates and commercial effectiveness.

About you

You will be a confident bid or tender professional who is comfortable managing multiple stakeholders, competing deadlines and complex technical information. You will combine strong project management skills with excellent written communication and a keen eye for detail.

Ideally, you will have

  • Previous experience in a Tender Manager, Bid Manager, Proposal Manager or similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex tenders from initial review through to final submission.
  • Strong written English, with the ability to turn technical and commercial information into clear and compelling client-facing content.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple contributors and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience undertaking quality and compliance reviews.
  • Experience working with technical, engineering, consultancy, infrastructure, energy, marine or other professional services organisations would be advantageous.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of contractual and procurement processes.
  • Experience using CRM systems and online client procurement or tender portals.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • The confidence to challenge, coordinate and influence stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent professional experience in business, commercial management, marketing, communications, engineering, project management or a related discipline would be beneficial, although relevant practical tender and bid management experience will be equally valued.
  • Professional training or qualifications in bid management, proposal management, project management or commercial management would also be advantageous.

Why join Ordtek?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important part of our commercial process and directly influence the quality of our market submissions and future growth.

You will have scope to shape how tenders are managed across the business, introduce best practice, improve our bid resources and work alongside experienced technical specialists on a varied portfolio of opportunities
