As a Trading Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of trading-related financial reporting across SEFE’s commodity trading business. Supporting the accounting and reporting of significant trading activity across natural gas, power, and LNG markets, you will provide financial control, reconciliation, and analysis that underpin informed decision-making and regulatory compliance.

What Will You Do

  • Ensure trading-related balance sheet and profit and loss positions are accurately recorded and reported in compliance with IFRS, Group Accounting Policies, and consolidation requirements.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations between SAP ERP trading results and Product Control estimates, investigating variances, preparing corrective journal entries, and communicating findings to key stakeholders.
  • Support the operation and governance of financial netting processes, ensuring derivative trading balances are accurately represented and reported under IFRS requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting, analysis, and business commentary for designated business units, providing clear insight into trading performance and balance sheet movements.
  • Partner with Front Office, Middle Office, Finance, Accounting, and Technical Accounting teams to support new business initiatives, ensuring new commodities, markets, and trading structures are implemented and reported effectively.Drive continuous improvement across trading finance processes, controls, chart of accounts management, and data quality, helping to enhance efficiency, transparency, and financial governance.

What Will You Bring

  • Qualified Accountant with relevant post-qualification experience, ideally supported by a degree-level qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience accounting for and controlling financial and physical commodity derivatives, with a strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting requirements within a trading environment.
  • Strong experience working with SAP ERP, including foreign currency accounting, realised and unrealised gains and losses, financial reconciliations, and complex balance sheet substantiation activities.Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to work with large volumes of transactional data and confidently use Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, business processes, data management, and chart of accounts structures, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and resilient approach, with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
