AI & Automation Analyst

Licensed sponsor London Area, United Kingdom Full-time Posted 1 hour ago

There’s more to automation than writing the code.

Ever built something clever and never seen anyone use it?

You might already be working in systems, automation, data or digital transformation. Perhaps you have built a Power App, an automation, a dashboard or even an AI agent. But what really keeps you interested is the question behind it: what is slowing people down, why are they still doing it manually and is there a better way?

So, what would make you move?

Perhaps it is a role where you work directly with the people using the process and see whether what you built saved time, reduced errors or gave someone better information.

Picture yourself as the person the firm turns to when something takes too long. A Partner talks you through a process that eats up hours every month. You map it, work out whether the answer is Copilot, Power Automate or a feature already sitting in one of our systems, then build it, test it and see the team stop doing it by hand.

This new, firmwide role sits at the intersection of IT and business operations. You’ll help shape how we use AI, automation, systems and data across Audit & Accounts, Tax, Finance and Business Support, playing an important part in helping a firm with more than 90 years of history continue to evolve.

You’ll be close to the decisions and close to the impact. Where a project needs deeper technical expertise, you’ll have support from our in-house IT team, external consultants and software providers, but the projects will still be yours to move forward. As AI and automation grow at Goodman Jones, there is room for the role to grow with them.

Who are Goodman Jones?

We’re a Top 60 independent accountancy practice based in Fitzrovia, central London, with a team of more than 100 people.

Established in 1934, we work with a varied client base spanning owner-managed businesses, international subsidiaries, charities, entrepreneurs and growing businesses. We’re big enough to have real problems worth solving and small enough that you’ll work directly with Partners and see the results of your contribution.

We continue to invest in the technology shaping the future of professional services, including Microsoft Copilot and Power Platform, CaseWare Cloud, Trullion, CCH, Dynamics and AI-enabled tools.

Enough about us. Here’s what you’ll be doing

Bringing time-consuming processes up to date

Sitting down with Partners, managers and process owners to understand where work gets stuck, duplicated or handled manually. Mapping processes, asking the questions others may have missed and working out what needs to change. Recommending the most proportionate answer, whether that is better use of an existing system, a workflow, an AI-enabled tool or specialist support.

Building practical AI and automation

Building and improving Power Automate workflows, Power Apps, Power BI reporting, Copilot solutions, prompt libraries and AI agents. Cleaning, mapping and validating data, and handling smaller connector and API work directly, bringing in specialist support where needed. Testing outputs properly and keeping confidentiality, accuracy, data protection and human oversight at the centre of the solution.

Owning the outcome, not just the build

Taking agreed projects from discovery and requirements through to testing, implementation and review. Coordinating user testing, resolving issues and keeping stakeholders informed about progress, blockers and decisions. Documenting what you build so that the knowledge stays within Goodman Jones and the solution can be maintained. Measuring the difference, including time saved, fewer errors, better information and whether people are actually using it.

Bringing people with you

Helping colleagues get comfortable with new tools through practical training, simple guidance and a bit of patience. Listening to colleagues who are cautious about change, understanding their concerns and adapting the support around them. Sharing examples, reusable prompts and better ways of working that build digital confidence across the firm.

Some of the work already waiting

  • Improving audit planning, documentation and workflows across CaseWare and Trullion.
  • Building Copilot prompt libraries and exploring practical AI agents.
  • Improving CCH and Dynamics workflows and developing Power BI reporting.
  • Automating business support processes such as client onboarding, billing requests and routine communications.
  • Contributing to clear, responsible policies and practical guidance for the use of AI across the firm.

Who would thrive in this role?

  • This could suit someone with a year or two of relevant experience in systems, automation, data or technology, or someone whose projects show equivalent capability.
  • Your exact job title matters less than being able to show what you have built, the problem it solved and the difference it made.
  • You’ll probably recognise yourself as someone who:
  • Enjoys the conversation before the build and the adoption work after it, not only the technical development.
  • Can turn an operational problem into a practical, proportionate solution.
  • Has hands-on experience with some of Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Copilot, Copilot Studio or similar automation and low-code tools.
  • Understands prompts, AI-generated outputs and the need for careful checking and human review.
  • Has a working understanding of APIs, connectors, data flows and system integrations.
  • Can explain technical ideas clearly to people who do not work in technology.
  • Takes ownership, keeps momentum and knows when to bring in specialist expertise.
  • Connects technical work to a real business outcome.

Even better if you bring

  • Experience within an accountancy firm, law firm or another professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with CCH, CaseWare, Trullion, iManage, Dynamics or comparable business systems.
  • Experience using Python, C#, JavaScript, PowerShell or another scripting language.
  • Experience supporting a systems rollout, data migration, user testing or wider process change.
