Build the Future of Autonomous Systems
SYOS designs and manufactures advanced uncrewed systems across air, land, sea, and subsurface domains. We combine intelligent engineering, AI-driven autonomy, and innovative design to create next-generation vehicles operating in some of the world's most challenging environments.
Our mission is to extend human capability, protect people, and deliver operational advantage through accessible, scalable, and intelligent autonomous technology. Join a team of engineers, builders, and innovators pushing boundaries and solving real-world challenges across robotics, aerospace, and autonomy.
About The Role
We’re looking for a skilled, hands-on Aircraft Electrical and Avionic Technician to support the manufacture, assembly, installation, integration and testing of electrical and avionics systems for our autonomous aircraft.
Working within our production team, you’ll carry out avionics bench builds, manufacture and repair wiring harnesses and cable looms, install aircraft electrical equipment and perform electrical inspections and functional testing. You’ll work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and approved work instructions to ensure every assembly meets the required quality, safety and performance standards.
Collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production and Quality teams, you’ll help resolve technical issues, maintain accurate build and test records, and support the delivery of reliable, high-quality autonomous aircraft systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Avionics assembly and bench builds: Assemble avionics equipment, panels, trays, enclosures, sub-assemblies and line-replaceable units in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and workmanship standards.
- Wiring harness and loom manufacture: Manufacture, modify and repair wiring harnesses and cable looms, including wire preparation, crimping, soldering, splicing, shielding, sleeving and connector termination.
- Aircraft electrical installation: Install avionics equipment, sensors, antennas, power distribution units, control units and associated wiring, ensuring correct routing, labelling, bonding and mechanical protection.
- Electrical testing and fault diagnosis: Carry out continuity, insulation-resistance and functional checks using appropriate test equipment, identify faults and implement or escalate corrective actions.
- System integration and collaboration: Work with Engineering, Software and Quality teams to support aircraft system integration, configuration control, troubleshooting and regulatory sign-off activities.
- Quality, safety and documentation: Follow approved quality-control procedures, maintain accurate build, inspection and test records, and comply with applicable health, safety, environmental and airworthiness requirements.
- Continuous improvement: Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S and Kaizen, to improve assembly processes, reduce waste and support efficient production.
What We’re Looking For
- Relevant hands-on experience in aircraft electrical or avionics assembly, including bench builds, wiring harness manufacture, installation, testing and fault diagnosis.
- An Electrical, Electronic or Avionics Apprenticeship at Level 3 or above, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in aerospace electrical or avionics production, assembly or maintenance, or another safety-critical environment.
- Practical understanding of aircraft power distribution, wiring, grounding and bonding, data buses, sensors, communications, navigation and control systems.
- Experience manufacturing, inspecting and testing wiring harnesses and cable looms, including crimping, soldering, splicing and connector termination.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, pin-out tables, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Competence using multimeters, continuity testers, insulation testers and other electrical test equipment safely and accurately.
- Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting avionics units, sensors, power supplies and associated interfaces.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and working within a Quality Management System.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of applicable aerospace electrical workmanship standards, safety requirements and airworthiness regulations.
- Experience producing clear technical, build and test documentation.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles in a production environment.
- Experience supporting formal inspection, acceptance testing and regulatory sign-off processes.
Why Join SYOS
- Work with advanced technology: Help build and integrate the electrical and avionics systems powering next-generation autonomous aircraft.
- Make a real impact: Contribute directly to aircraft safety, reliability, quality and production delivery.
- Collaborate with specialists: Work alongside Engineering, Software, Manufacturing and Quality teams to solve complex technical challenges.
- Be part of a growing business: Join a team developing innovative uncrewed systems across air, land, sea and subsurface domains.
If you’re a technically minded electrical or avionics technician who takes pride in precision workmanship, systematic fault-finding and building reliable aircraft systems, we’d love to hear from you.
