How You'll Make a Difference

As an Assistant Commissioning Officer, you will join the Personalised Commissioning Team within the Partnerships and Commissioning Service. The team plays a key role in brokering suitable care packages and placements for people who require care and support. Working closely with social workers, individuals and families, you will help identify and secure the most appropriate support to meet individual needs.

What You Will Be Doing

  • It will be your responsibility to broker appropriate care and support arrangements for individuals, ensuring their needs are met in a timely and effective way.
  • You will play a key role in supporting the Commissioning Officer to integrate Direct Payments into the Personalised Commissioning Team, assisting with the development and delivery of associated processes and activity.
  • Using your expertise, you will manage a caseload of individuals, taking responsibility for sourcing suitable care and support solutions to meet their needs.
  • To support the wider team, you will undertake duty cover at least once a week, helping to manage incoming contacts and ensuring queries are directed and responded to appropriately.

What We Need From You

  • It is essential that you have relevant experience of working within an organisation responsible for commissioning in social care or a similar service.
  • You will hold a Level 3 qualification, ideally in health or social care.
  • We require you to have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Given the nature of the role, you will be well organised, with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage your own workload, balance competing priorities, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • An understanding of direct payments and their role in delivering personalised support would be beneficial.

What You Need To Know

  • This is limited term contract until 31st March 2027.
  • This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week. We would also consider 24 hours per week if preferred.
  • Salary will be pro rata to hours worked.
  • Working days can be discussed, although there is a preference for cover towards the end of the week.
  • You will undertake duty cover at least once a week (8.30am-5.00pm), helping to manage the flow of contacts into the team.
  • This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate 1 day a week and working from home.

Interviews are likely to held 16th November.
