About The Role
This role sits within Oliver Holland's team in the UK and International Group Litigation Department. The team specialises in complex claimant-side group litigation concerning environmental harm, corporate misconduct and human rights abuses by multinational corporations.
The successful candidate will work primarily on environmental group litigation, including domestic water pollution matters. Current matters include large-scale environmental group claims, alongside the investigation and development of new environmental and corporate accountability litigation.
The role will involve helping to manage and progress existing group claims, working with clients, counsel and experts, supervising junior colleagues and contributing to the investigation and development of new matters. It would suit a solicitor with 2-4 years' PQE who has a strong grounding in complex litigation and a demonstrable interest in environmental law, access to justice and claimant-side group litigation.

What You'll Bring
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to environmental protection, equality and access to justice.
- An interest in environmental law, human rights and corporate accountability.
- Excellent academics.
- 2-4 years' PQE with experience of complex litigation. Experience of group litigation and/or managing large client groups would be advantageous.
- Excellent time management skills demonstrated by ability to organise and prioritise a complex workload, coordinate multiple internal teams, and work to tight deadlines.
- Experience in dealing with experts.
- Experience of identifying and managing procedural deadlines in complex litigation.
- Experience in working on complex matters, which require analysis of large amounts of data.
- Experience of drafting witness statements and interim applications.
- Proven experience in supervising junior team members.
- Solid experience in using a variety of IT packages (MS Word, Excel, Case Management Systems and Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrated by ability to communicate accurately, clearly, and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and appropriate variation of tone between client and litigation team audiences.
- Ability to learn new areas of law quickly and develop new areas or work for the firm.
- Demonstrable knowledge in conduct of cases from initial advice through to trial.
- Relevant experience in analysing complex factual and legal situations and advising clients in accordance with their aims.
- Experience in working and contributing to a team environment.
- Ability to work with sensitivity in countries with systems and culture that are significantly different to the UK.
- Willingness to undertake regular short term UK travel and occasional overseas travel, which may involve periods of several weeks.
- Experience in or knowledge of public nuisance and/or private nuisance.
- Experience of supervising teams of paralegals
- Experience working with scientific experts (environmental preferred)
- Experience of claims management processes.
