Purpose

On-site technical owner for Series and Legacy engineering support, from issue intake and diagnosis through supplier investigation, evidence-based decision-making and closure. Ensures work is prioritised, routed and progressed with clear ownership, disciplined ticket management, robust technical evidence and timely escalation of scope, capacity and delivery risks.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose and triage complex electromechanical issues on modern, high-end, software-defined vehicles, identifying the issue boundary, required evidence and appropriate route to resolution.
  • Own Work Package 1 intake and delivery control: classify and prioritise demand, confirm scope and ownership, identify dependencies, route actions, and track each item against agreed closure criteria.
  • Lead day-to-day technical triage and routing decisions; ensure clear ownership and next actions.
  • Drive QCR/PPS and CR/ER progression with disciplined ticket updates and evidence capture.
  • Lead cross-functional investigations with the clients departments and suppliers, agreeing owners and timescales, securing accessible technical evidence, tracking actions and challenging blockers until resolution.
  • Define the logs, tests and acceptance evidence required, direct execution across UK and offshore resources, and review outputs for completeness, reproducibility and closure readiness.
  • Escalate unresolved technical decisions to the Technical Lead and raise scope, capacity, dependency and delivery risks to the Delivery Manager early, with a clear impact assessment, evidence and recommended next action.

Key interfaces

  • Delivery Manager (governance) and Technical Lead (technical arbitration).
  • Triage Lead for technical authority, cross-team boundary decisions and arbitration where ownership or closure route is unclear.
  • Customer quality forums, change control forums, and platform planning interfaces.
  • Offshore engineering and administration support for investigation tasks, evidence preparation, ticket maintenance and agreed follow-up actions, directed and quality-checked by the on-site engineer.

Success measures

  • Maintain a controlled intake-to-closure flow, with every active item prioritised, owned and carrying a current next action and due date; ageing and blocked items are reviewed and escalated through the agreed governance cadence.
  • Communicate constructively with customers and delivery teams, respond promptly, maintain professional challenge and keep stakeholders informed of progress, decisions and blockers.
  • Work independently within agreed authority, anticipate dependencies, pursue missing information and escalate before risks affect delivery.
  • Make timely, evidence-based routing decisions independently within agreed boundaries, seeking technical arbitration when ownership, safety, scope or closure route remains unclear.
  • Maintain review-ready tickets with a clear problem statement, owner, status, next action, due date, linked evidence, decision history and closure rationale.
  • Predictable visibility of risks, blockers, and capacity limits.
  • Produce evidence that is accessible, traceable and sufficient for another engineer or approver to reproduce the finding and accept the closure without avoidable rework.
  • Complete investigation tasks to agreed priority and timescale, with outputs that meet the defined technical and evidence acceptance criteria.
