Band 8a Clinical Specialist Sonographer
The post holder will perform and issue ultrasound reports on a range of
ultrasound procedures providing advanced clinical skills and opinion and
diagnosis for patient centred care.
They will exercise the highest degree of professional autonomy in the
decision-making process and are required to liaise with both sonographers and Radiologists to improve overall patient outcomes.
The post holder will liaise with a variety of staff throughout the trust, define scope of practice of others and continuously develop clinical practice within a defined field.
They will support the lead Sonographer, operational manager and clinical
leads in developing the ultrasound service in line with best practice and
national standards
Key Responsibilities Include
- Maintain a high standard of patient care and provide excellent
experience for patients
- To independently undertake ultrasound examinations using a high
level of specialist knowledge in line with local, regional and national
guidance
- To be responsible for the management and development of the
specialist service ensuring optimum resources
- To be responsible for the professional leadership and training of the
team (band 7 & 6 level)
- To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous
professional development
- To ensure a safe working environment
- To ensure compliance with CQC and UKAS standards and specialist
reporting guidance
