Business Development Manager - Health and Social Care Technology

  • Location: Home-based, UK, with regular travel to local authorities and NHS organisations
  • Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 basic, plus uncapped commission
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent
  • Already selling technology into local authorities or the NHS? We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running.

About us

Home from Home Care is an established specialist care provider with extensive experience supporting people with complex needs.

Through our technology partner, Actualised Living, we have developed and implemented digital solutions that are used throughout our own care operations.

Our technology is built around the practical realities of delivering care. It has been developed with direct operational input and is designed to reduce administrative workloads, improve efficiency and give professionals more time to focus on the people they support.

We are now expanding across UK health and social care, starting with local authorities and the NHS, with a proven product, ambitious growth plans and a highly competitive commercial proposition.

We're looking for an experienced business development professional who can help us rapidly establish a strong market position.

The opportunity

This is a new business development role focused on winning contracts with UK local authorities, NHS organisations and other health and care providers.

We're looking for someone who already understands the health and social care technology market, knows how councils and the NHS buy and has the relationships and commercial drive to generate opportunities from the outset.

You'll be taking a proven technology proposition into an established market where we believe there is significant potential to challenge incumbent suppliers.

Our offering combines practical functionality, credible sector experience and highly competitive pricing, giving buyers a compelling alternative to existing solutions.

This is a hands-on sales role. We are not looking for someone to simply manage existing accounts. We want someone who enjoys opening doors, creating opportunities, negotiating agreements and closing deals.

You'll have considerable autonomy, direct access to our leadership team and support from experienced product and technical colleagues.

What you'll do

·       Develop and execute a proactive business development strategy targeting UK local authorities, NHS trusts, integrated care boards and other health and care organisations.

·       Use existing contacts and industry networks to secure early meetings with senior decision-makers.

·       Identify organisations using competing technology solutions and develop opportunities to offer a compelling alternative.

·       Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of new business opportunities.

·       Engage with Directors of Adult and Children's Social Care, Heads of Service, NHS clinical, operational and digital leads, transformation teams and procurement professionals.

·       Deliver persuasive commercial presentations and coordinate product demonstrations with our technical team.

·       Identify contract renewal opportunities, purchasing cycles and appropriate procurement routes.

·       Progress opportunities through demonstrations, pilots, proposals, negotiations and contract award.

·       Develop competitive commercial proposals in conjunction with the leadership team.

·       Take personal responsibility for achieving agreed new business revenue targets.

·       Provide market intelligence on competitors, procurement opportunities and customer requirements.

·       Support initial customer relationships and identify opportunities for further expansion.

About you

You will already have meaningful experience selling software, digital solutions or technology-enabled services into UK local authorities, the NHS or the wider health and care sector.

You'll understand public sector purchasing, the importance of demonstrating measurable value and how to navigate complex decision-making processes.

Ideally, you'll bring established relationships that allow you to start meaningful commercial conversations immediately.

Essential

  • ·       A proven track record in new business development or technology sales to UK local authorities or NHS organisations.
  • ·       Experience selling software, digital solutions or technology-enabled services.
  • ·       Demonstrable success in generating opportunities, developing pipelines and closing contracts.
  • ·       Existing relationships with relevant local authority or NHS stakeholders.
  • ·       A strong understanding of public sector procurement and purchasing processes.
  • ·       Experience working towards and delivering revenue targets.
  • ·       Strong presentation, negotiation and communication skills.
  • ·       A proactive, commercially driven approach and the confidence to work independently.

Desirable

  • ·       Experience selling technology into adult or children's social care, community health or mental health services.
  • ·       Previous employment with a health or social care technology supplier or consultancy.
  • ·       Familiarity with case management or electronic patient record systems such as Liquidlogic, Mosaic, Eclipse, SystmOne or Rio.
  • ·       Knowledge of G-Cloud, NHS and other public sector procurement frameworks.
  • ·       Experience displacing incumbent suppliers or winning business in competitive markets.
  • ·       Understanding of AI-enabled documentation, recording or workflow technologies.
  • ·       Existing contacts across ADASS, ADCS, NHS digital or local authority transformation networks.

What we offer

  • ·       £55,000 - £65,000 basic salary.
  • ·       Uncapped commission linked to commercial performance, with the structure agreed before appointment.
  • ·       Home-based working with regular UK travel.
  • ·       Pension and annual leave in line with company policy.
  • ·       A proven technology proposition supported by an established care provider.
  • ·       Direct access to senior leadership and experienced technical colleagues.
  • ·       Significant autonomy in developing the health and social care market.
  • ·       The opportunity to play a central role in growing a technology business.

How to apply

  • Please submit your CV together with a short covering note outlining your experience selling to UK local authorities or NHS organisations.
  • We would particularly welcome examples of contracts you've secured, the organisations you've worked with and your experience developing new business.
  • The position is with a technology partner organisation working alongside Home from Home Care. Further details will be provided during the recruitment process.
