Business Support Consultant
We’re looking for a proactive and organised Business Support Consultant to join our Business Management team in IT Infrastructure and Service Delivery. The team helps the function run smoothly by bringing together planning, performance, colleague engagement and day-to-day governance, so leaders can make informed decisions and keep priorities moving.
In this varied role, you’ll provide practical support across the team’s services. You’ll help organise and check performance information, draft clear colleague communications, support events, and keep governance documents and SharePoint content accurate and easy to use.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys delivering at a fast pace, managing different priorities and learning new skills. You’ll be supported to grow your analytical capability and build on your experience of tools such as Power BI, while developing broader experience across data, communications, engagement and governance.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 25 and 35 hours.
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our Swindon office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
Whilst these locations are where we are primarily looking to fill the role, if you’re an internal applicant based in a different location we would welcome your application and if successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this could work for this specific role. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.
What you’ll be doing
You will support the Business Management team in delivering high-quality reporting, communications, engagement and governance support across IT Infrastructure and Service Delivery. You’ll use your organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence with information to help the team produce clear outputs that support effective oversight and decision-making. You may also support wider team activity, including event planning, the coordination of key meetings and engagement sessions, and improvements to reporting and administrative processes.

As a minimum requirement, you’ll have
- Experience working with data, reporting or management information, including using Excel to organise and check information, identify key themes and produce clear, accurate outputs that support decision-making

- Experience producing reports, presentations or communications for different audiences, with excellent written communication and proofreading skills
- Planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate contributions and deliver high-quality work to agreed deadlines as part of a busy and supportive team
- Experience maintaining documents, records or online content, with an understanding of the importance of clear governance, version control and accurate information
- Confidence building effective relationships with stakeholders at different levels, asking questions, responding positively to feedback and working with others to resolve issues and achieve the right outcome
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement, with attention to detail and a desire to improve ways of working. You’ll be able to investigate issues, suggest practical solutions and take ownership through to completion
