Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in St Johns Hospital.
A new Consultant post has been established to support the development of Acute Medicine services at St John’s Hospital. This role will enhance medical admission pathways and strengthen ambulatory care for patients presenting with acute medical conditions.
The Medical Unit at St John’s Hospital works in close collaboration with the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. A Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) clinic currently operates Monday to Friday, and development plans include expanding the scope of practice in this area to provide assessment and treatment for all Acute Medical ambulant patients. All core medical specialty services are available on site. Close liaison with primary care colleagues across West Lothian is actively encouraged.
