Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to apply for the position of Specialty Doctor in Medicine of the Elderly based with the Rapid Assessment & Care Team (REACT), St John’s Hospital, Livingston in NHS Lothian.
This role comprises 2 sessions based in the Rapid Access Frailty Clinic, working synergistically with the award-winning West Lothian Hospital at Home Team to provide Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA), proactive frailty assessments and interventions to improve patient outcomes and avoid acute hospital admissions. There is full access to diagnostic facilities and specialist input from the wider Medical Unit at St John’s Hospital, close support from Consultant Geriatricians, as well as multidisciplinary team working with nursing and allied health professionals.
As well as clinical duties, this post will have a commitment to the delivery of undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training within Medicine of the Elderly at St John’s Hospital. Other non-clinical interests are encouraged, for example management, education, quality improvement, service development and research. Individual continued professional development and subspecialty interests will also be fully supported.
Working day and pattern can be negotiated and we welcome enquiries from anyone considering this post as part of their professional development to complement other existing roles, for example as a General Practitioner, or Specialty Doctor in another field.
