Employment Paralegal

Licensed sponsor Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom Contract Posted 1 hour ago
The team

Our national Employment team is widely respected for providing an excellent service, providing pragmatic and timely legal advice to its highly regarded client base. The team primarily works with employer clients along with some individual advisory work and a mix of both contentious and non-contentious matters. We also have specialists in advocacy, corporate work and business immigration.

The role

The Shoosmiths Employment Team has a unique opportunity to join our Scotland team as a paralegal, supporting a commercially significant equal pay project on an initial 6-month fixed-term basis. This is a collaborative role, offering the chance to work alongside colleagues across our national employment team, as well as leading barristers on one of the most high-profile and evolving areas of employment law.

The role

The role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in complex litigation. You will:

  • Immerse yourself in the detail of claimants' employment histories
  • Attend witness meetings
  • Assist with the preparation of defence documentation
  • Analyse the wider litigation landscape
  • Observe strategic discussions shaping the defence of large-scale equal pay claims

The team operates on a hybrid basis between Edinburgh and Glasgow, with three days per week in the office, at least two of which will be spent in Edinburgh, with the flexibility to work from home on the remaining two days. In addition to developing invaluable legal and commercial experience, the role offers an opportunity to build relationships across the firm and meet your future Shoosmiths colleagues.
