About Our Opportunity
We’re looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our team and play a key role in driving performance across operational, commercial and logistics functions across the Midlands & South West.
In this role, you’ll go beyond reporting, providing insight, challenge and commercial guidance to support decision-making and improve business performance.
Working closely with regional leadership teams, you’ll use data, financial understanding and systems expertise to identify opportunities, influence outcomes and support the delivery of sustainable growth.
This is a hands-on role with real impact, combining commercial partnering with operational ownership, where you’ll help shape how the business uses data, systems and financial insight to maximise performance.

What You Will Be Doing
You’ll act as a trusted partner to operational, commercial and logistics teams, using data and financial insight to challenge performance, identify opportunities and support better decision-making across the region.
You’ll take ownership of key reporting and analysis, ensuring that performance is clearly understood and actionable. This includes reviewing operational and financial data, validating margin and cost performance, and highlighting risks, trends and opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders to turn insight into action, driving continuous improvement across multiple cost centres. Alongside this, you’ll play a central role in forecasting, budgeting and month-end processes, ensuring accuracy, transparency and strong financial control. You’ll produce management information at depot, area and regional level, providing clear commentary and insight to drive leadership decisions.
You’ll also oversee the integrity of operational and financial processes, including stock, production and transactional flows, identifying issues and driving improvements. Working with IT and business improvement teams, you’ll influence system development, testing and enhancements to improve performance, visibility and control. A key part of the role will be building capability across the business.
You’ll provide training and ongoing advice to operational, commercial and logistics teams, helping them better understand systems, data and financial performance, and enabling more effective decision-making at all levels.
You’ll take a proactive approach to continuous improvement, using analysis and insight to recommend and implement changes that improve efficiency, reduce cost and enhance overall business performance.
About You
- You’re a commercially minded finance professional with strong analytical capability and the confidence to influence and challenge stakeholders.
- You have experience in reporting, forecasting and business partnering, and are comfortable working with data, systems and financial information.
- You communicate clearly, build strong relationships across teams, and take a proactive, solutions-focused approach to improving performance.
- You bring a high level of accuracy, ownership and attention to detail in everything you do.
- A professional finance qualification such as CIMA is desirable, alongside strong data analysis skills and experience with business systems and reporting tools.
- You’re resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where you can make a visible impact.
Who we are
- The products we’ll all need tomorrow depend on us making the most of today’s end-of-life metals, plastics and other materials.
- Take a car at the end of its life - most people just see a…car at the end of its life.
- We see steel, aluminium, copper, plastics, rubber, glass, parts, fluids, costs, risks, markets and – most importantly - possibilities.
Now, multiply that by thousands of cars – we recover, reuse and recycle all those valuable materials and put them back to work as low-carbon materials for manufacturing, infrastructure, energy and transport.
And that’s just one thing we recycle. Add buildings, factories, ships, railways and industrial equipment. That’s all our hard work – the gritty, practical, commercial, difficult work our 4,000 global colleagues do every day.
Anything from a can to an aircraft carrier can become anything from a bicycle to a building and, at the same time, we help to avoid 19 million tonnes of carbon and 10 million tonnes of waste to landfill, protecting nature, resources and the next generation’s future.
Which is all well and good for us to say, but this is what the real people behind the really hard work think:
- “The people who work here are from varied backgrounds and have a variety of beliefs, all of which are accepted and respected.”
- “I’m encouraged to keep a healthy work-life balance so that I can be performing at my best.”
- “I’ve been supported every step of the way in my career progression.”
- ‘‘EMR offers a fantastic and inclusive environment; collaboration across the whole business, humility and hard work.”
Four years as a certified Great Place To Work is no small feat. Oh, and don’t forget one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Manufacturing, Production and Transportation. That’s pretty good too.
But we can do better. We’re aiming for a place in the top 60 companies in the UK – not for the accolade but for the improvement. A journey you should probably join us for.
If you want to be part of something bigger than yourself, have a role that really makes a difference and work with likeminded people towards the same purpose, this is the role for you.
