Licensed sponsor Liverpool Contract Posted 2 days ago

John West is one of the UK's most iconic and trusted food brands, with a proud heritage and an ambitious future. As part of Thai Union, a global leader in the seafood industry, we're committed to delivering nutritious, responsibly sourced products while driving positive change for people and the planet.

You might know us for tuna. But we’re here for something bigger. We are the original tinned fish company, bringing sustainable, great tasting, nutritious, ready prepared fish to the your table/life!

We believe in fish, done properly. We believe seafood should be tasty, responsibly sourced, and part of a critical sustainable food system that doesn’t cost the earth or the ocean.

Role Overview

  • Can you turn a good idea into work people notice, remember and act on?
  • Can you move from a scroll-stopping social post to standout packaging on shelf — without losing the idea, the detail or the deadline?
  • We’re looking for an interim junior to mid-weight Graphic Designer (6 to 12 months contract) to join our Brand team.

This is a role for someone who wants variety, ownership and the chance to make a visible difference. You’ll work across campaigns, packaging, digital, social and in-store creative — helping bring John West and Parmentier to life wherever people meet our brands.

The role will be based in Liverpool and report to the Brand Controller / Head of Communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn briefs into bold campaign concepts and distinctive key visuals
  • Design across packaging, print, point of sale, out of home and every screen that matters
  • Create social, web and email assets, retailer content, presentations, infographics and sales materials that people actually want to look at
  • Bring ideas to life through motion design, video and animation
  • Support photo and video shoots — from shaping the idea to getting the final asset out into the world
  • Build and maintain a useful, consistent suite of marketing materials for campaigns, launches, in-store activation and conferences. Projects will include supporting artworking, print and digital collateral such as large-format event graphics and publication layouts; advertising for print, digital, and social media; motion graphics; presentations; illustrations; and fun promotional items for special events.
  • Work closely with our marketing team , agencies and retailer partners
  • Be a brand guardian for John West and Parmentier — protecting what makes each brand distinctive
  • Keep every piece of communication consistent, polished and on brand
  • Use AI design tools to explore concepts, build moodboards, generate and adapt assets, speed up production and test creative routes — while keeping human judgement, originality and brand standards firmly in control
  • Own your workload, priorities and deadlines — and speak up early when something needs to change or you need support

About You (Qualifications & Experience)

  • Two to four years’ experience in a design role, with a portfolio that shows strong thinking as well as strong craft
  • Confident Adobe Creative Suite skills — especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Premiere.
  • Strong illustration skills, backed by clear examples in your portfolio
  • Experience creating joined-up campaign work across more than one channel
  • Visual storytelling, brand systems, and the technical principles required to achieve impactful visual outcomes
  • A digital-first mindset and a real interest in motion, social and emerging formats
  • Curiosity and hands-on experience with AI-powered creative tools — using them thoughtfully for ideation, image generation, versioning and workflow efficiencies, with a clear understanding of copyright, accuracy and responsible use
  • An obsessive eye for detail — the kind that spots what others miss
  • The organization to manage several projects without letting standards slip
  • A collaborative approach and a love of solving creative problems

Why Join Us

  • Because creativity shapes how people experience brands.
  • Because great ideas deserve brilliant execution.
  • Because every detail matters.

This role isn't simply about making things look good. It's about helping shape ideas from the beginning, translating strategy into creative solutions, and ensuring our brands show up brilliantly wherever consumers encounter them.

You'll have the opportunity to work on brands people already know and trust, creating everything from packaging and campaigns to digital content and motion graphics, while building your skills within a supportive, ambitious marketing team.
