Green Roof Maintenance Operative
Role Purpose
As a Green Roof Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and care of green roof systems at customer sites across the UK. Working both independently and as part of a team, you'll carry out vegetation management, inspections, remedial works and general maintenance activities to ensure all green roofs remain healthy, safe and visually appealing.
This hands-on role will involve regular travel, outdoor working and operating at height, making it ideal for someone with a practical mindset and a passion for landscaping, horticulture or environmental projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance visits to green roof installations.
- Remove unwanted vegetation and weeds whilst promoting healthy plant growth.
- Complete inspections of green roof systems and identify any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Undertake minor repairs and remedial works where required.
- Monitor drainage systems and ensure roofs remain free from blockages.
- Apply fertilisers and treatments in line with maintenance schedules and environmental standards.
- Record maintenance activities and site observations accurately.
- Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicles in a safe and professional condition.
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, grounds maintenance, roofing, construction or a similar practical outdoor environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work at height safely and confidently.
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when interacting with customers.
