Group Product Design Manager
What is Flagstone?
Flagstone is many things. An online savings platform, reinventing how individuals, businesses, and charities manage, protect, and grow their cash. A diverse group of people, bound by a collaborative spirit, and shared purpose. And lastly, a thriving, profitable business – where smart people do their best work.
Each definition shares a common thread: our unique culture. It’s our pride and joy. And our competitive advantage.
A feel for our culture
To revolutionise the savings market, we need to be at our best. But high performance takes more than talent – it takes a culture of kindness, respect, and growth.
That’s why we’re building a diverse, inclusive community, where your voice is heard and valued. Where, with close support and room to develop, you can surpass even your own expectations. And be rewarded for it.
We may not change the world, but we can change the world of financial technology. And all it takes is a winning mix of drive, talent, and empathy. Our culture celebrates all three.
But enough about us. Let’s talk about you.
Does this sound like you?
You’re an experienced UX leader who gets the best out of design teams. You’ve led senior designers and managers, raised the bar on design quality, and helped teams spend their time on the right problems.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Head of UX, You’ll be accountable for the performance of your team, line managing senior individual contributors and player-coaches. You’ll set the direction for design quality, own our Design System, and lead the shift to AI-augmented ways of working. This is a leadership role rather than a squad-based design role, though you’ll roll up your sleeves where it helps the team.
This will include
- Leading, coaching, and developing the Product Design team, including objective setting, performance reviews, and making sure managers in your team follow good line management practice
- Driving a culture of user-centred design and UI excellence, and making sure what we ship matches the standard of the design
- Embedding AI-augmented ways of working, including AI prototyping, tools, skills, and workflows
- Owning the Product Design Ops roadmap, including design crits, reviews, process documentation, and the team’s contribution to UX Ops sessions
- Building strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, Research, Brand, and Content, and leading stakeholders up to executive level to follow good UX practice
- Defining metrics that show the impact of design, and building business cases to grow Product Design capability
What You’ll Bring
- Substantial UX experience, delivering successful work across product areas or programmes, with a strong focus on team leadership, stakeholder influence, and commercial awareness
- Experience line managing senior individual contributors and managers, with accountability for a design team’s performance
- Experience leading Design Ops or design system programmes
- Hands-on experience applying AI tools and workflows in design practice
- Deep experience in one or more channels, such as mobile apps, website design, or web apps
- Strong skills across UX planning and facilitation, user-centred design, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping
- Exceptional facilitation, storytelling, and influencing skills, with the confidence to adapt and find compromise in complex situations
