Head of Hybrid Cloud Services

DWP is looking to fill a role in the Digital Technology Services Directorate in either Blackpool or Manchester.

The Head of Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) will play a critical role in the design, build and operation of the Department’s strategic hosting environments in hyper-scale public cloud, as well as its on-premises hosting infrastructure.

They will do this in partnership with senior colleagues within DWP and other Government Departments.

They will lead a function of circa 200 people, which is focussed on providing a portfolio of hosting products and services to support the operation and transformation of DWP applications underpinning the delivery of the Department’s services.

Hybrid Cloud Services supports workloads for over 22 million customers, 84,000 employees and 2000 engineers.

Role Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership and management for Hybrid Cloud Services.
• Providing thought leadership and setting vision and direction for Hybrid Cloud Services product and engineering teams.
• Working closely with associated tooling and platform owners and architects across DWP Digital to ensure a consistent, secure, automated and cost-effective platform approach for internal consumers of services.
• Identifying underlying infrastructure service requirements to support business platform capability.
• Continuous performance improvement and live operation of Hybrid Cloud ensuring the provision of DWP services.
• Delivering a portfolio of services for the wider DWP business to consume, with service descriptions, Operational Level Agreements (OLA’s), with appropriate contracts in place with 3rd party providers as required.
• Responsible for the £80m Profit and Loss (P&L) portfolio of services across Hybrid Cloud Services.
• Working collaboratively with other functions and teams to deploy and operate our services and systems
• Ensuring internal capability and professionalism is continually developed and aligned to DWP strategy, Government standards, industry best practice, standards and policies.
• Driving continuous evolution and product development by leveraging technological advances, innovation and best practise. Tests and benchmarks services against world class comparators.
• Collaborating across DWP (and other Government departments as appropriate).
