Head of Product Management

Licensed sponsor Leicester Full-time Posted 2 hours ago

As our new Head of Product Management, you’ll lead our product management function across a portfolio of product streams, bringing clarity, consistency and momentum to how we decide what to build and why. Reporting to the IT Director, you’ll ensure each product has a clear vision, strategy and roadmap connected to organisational goals, customer needs and measurable outcomes.

Working across IT and the wider business, you’ll directly manage and develop Product Owners and QA, provide functional direction across product, analysis and user interface development, and strengthen collaboration from discovery through build, testing and release. If you’re a strategic and hands-on product leader who can bring structure to complexity, align senior stakeholders and improve how teams make decisions, we’d love to hear from you.

Some of your key responsibilities

  • Set product direction across the portfolio, connecting product visions and strategies to organisational goals, customer needs and measurable outcomes.
  • Shape and govern evidence-led product roadmaps and portfolio priorities, balancing strategic value, customer impact, risk, technical health, dependencies and available capacity.
  • Lead capacity planning and investment sequencing with the IT Director, delivery leaders and Product Owners, making demand, constraints and dependencies visible early enough to support realistic decisions.
  • Manage, coach and develop the Product Owners and QA team, while providing functional leadership and consistent standards across Product Owners, Business Analysts, User Interface Developers and QA.
  • Establish and improve product management frameworks, processes, artefacts and governance across discovery, strategy, prioritisation, outcome tracking, build, testing and release.
  • Build alignment with the Senior Leadership Team, business functions and IT peer group, measure product health and delivery confidence, and communicate clear portfolio-level progress and decisions.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

  • Demonstrated experience leading product management across multiple products, platforms or product streams, connecting strategy, roadmaps and delivery decisions.
  • Strong experience developing product visions and strategies and translating them into clear, outcome-focused roadmaps, with the ability to lead prioritisation and capacity-planning conversations involving competing demands and uncertainty.
  • Experience directly managing, coaching or developing Product Owners and QA professionals, with a practical approach to improving capability, quality and collaboration across the product lifecycle.
  • Sound judgement about product governance and operating models, with a strong understanding of iterative product development, customer or user needs, delivery practices and the relationship between product and technology.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to build alignment with senior stakeholders, explain complex trade-offs clearly and work effectively across business and technology teams.
  • Experience in a complex IT, technology or enterprise change environment, ideally including product management maturity, portfolio measures, customer-facing or internal products, platforms or services, and regulated or operationally complex settings.

What’s in it for me?

  • A competitive salary alongside inclusion into our company bonus scheme. Our Cromwell Incentive Plan reinforces our key principle of winning as one team and sharing in our success.
  • Enhanced employer pension contribution.
  • Our Private Medical Insurance offers eligible team members the ability to access a broad range of treatments quickly when they need it the most.
  • 22 days annual leave entitlement plus Bank Holidays – Whilst this is common amongst businesses, we also offer the opportunity to purchase an additional annual leave in case you need a couple of extra days.
  • Welcoming a new addition to the family is a precious time and one that we want our team members to enjoy. We support our team members by offering enhanced Maternity & Paternity pay so that you can plan for your time off with your family.
