St Francis' College is seeking to appoint a qualified, energetic and motivating Circuit / HIIT Instructor to deliver engaging group fitness sessions for students. This is an exciting opportunity to support the physical wellbeing, confidence and fitness of young people through safe, effective and enjoyable exercise programmes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering structured circuit training and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) sessions designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, endurance, agility and overall physical wellbeing. They will be able to create an inclusive and encouraging environment, adapting activities to meet differing fitness levels and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured circuit training and HIIT sessions for groups of varying fitness levels.
• Demonstrate exercises and explain correct technique, form and equipment use.
• Develop suitable exercise stations, work-to-rest intervals and class progressions.
• Provide modifications and alternative exercises to accommodate different abilities and fitness levels.
• Monitor participants' technique, effort and wellbeing throughout sessions.
• Maintain a safe training environment and ensure equipment is set up and stored correctly.
• Motivate and encourage participants to achieve their fitness goals in a positive and inclusive environment.
• Carry out appropriate pre-session checks and follow health and safety procedures.
• Respond appropriately to injuries, emergencies or signs of participant distress.
• Maintain professional standards, punctuality and clear communication.
• Collect participant feedback and adapt sessions to support engagement and progression.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• A recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification or equivalent.
• A recognised Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification, or an appropriate group exercise qualification.
• A relevant group exercise, circuit training or HIIT qualification, or documented competency to deliver these classes safely.
• A valid First Aid qualification appropriate to the role.
• Current public liability and professional indemnity insurance, where applicable.
• Sound knowledge of exercise technique, cardiovascular training, resistance exercises, exercise programming and safe training principles.
• Strong communication, motivation and group management skills.
• The ability to adapt sessions to accommodate different fitness levels and abilities.
• An understanding of the importance of safeguarding, professional boundaries and school policies when working with children and young people.

Desirable

• Experience delivering circuit training, HIIT or group exercise classes within a school, gym, leisure centre or community setting.
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Additional qualifications in fitness instruction, strength and conditioning or group exercise delivery.
• Relevant safeguarding training and experience supporting young people in educational or recreational settings.
