Illiquid Portfolio Associate

Licensed sponsor London Posted 2 weeks ago

You will be joining the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer function within our Insurance Capital Solutions team, which is responsible for managing the investment portfolio of Macquarie’s asset intensive Bermudian reinsurer, InEvo Re.

As part of their mandate, the team oversees InEvo’s deployment into new investments; manages InEvo’s risk, liquidity and ALM strategy; partners with teams across Macquarie to establish new investment capabilities; and works with InEvo to negotiate investment guidelines and support on the pricing of new reinsurance transactions.

We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.

Joining as an Associate within the illiquid investments team, you will play a key role in facilitating InEvo’s deployment into private assets.

You will review early-stage pipeline transactions and recommend which opportunities to progress; interact with investment teams and provide guidance on InEvo’s investment requirements to support origination; and screen new investment opportunities from our investment teams and third-party managers to assess portfolio fit, risk/return, guidelines compliance, ALM characteristics and liquidity impact.

You will manage the investment process from end-to-end, liaising with internal and external stakeholders (such as Legal, Tax, Investment Operations, etc.) from screening through to investment approval, execution and settlement, and will prepare papers for OCIO transaction approval.

Lastly, you will record closed deals in portfolio systems, including key metrics, ratings and final documentation, and share required information with InEvo’s investment team and the relevant cedants; maintain pipeline management information, including tracking each opportunity by stage and supporting deployment forecasts for fee projections and budgeting; and develop and maintain screening tools, templates and benchmarks, using AI and other automation where possible to reduce manual effort.

  • 2+ years’ experience analysing private credit deals – including cash flows, structure, credit quality and relative value – and managing a live deal pipeline, with multiple opportunities at different stages
  • Exposure to insurance or reinsurance focused investment strategies or asset portfolios would be advantageous, as would familiarity with private placements, infrastructure debt, real asset debt, CLOs, rated notes or fund finance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to develop trusted relationships with key partners
  • Able to build and improve processes, turning ad hoc workflows into repeatable, documented and increasingly automated ones
  • Highly analytical, organised, proactive, responsive, reliable and independent, with great attention to detail and sound judgement
