Industry Principal - AI-first Strategic QE, AI Led QE, AI Assurance
Role – Industry Principal, IQE Consulting
Technology – AI-first Strategic QE, AI Assurance
Location – UK/Europe
Compensation – Competitive (including bonus)
Job Description
We’re seeking an Industry Principal Consultant to lead AI-era Quality Engineering (QE) consulting engagements for large enterprises across Europe. You will act as a trusted advisor to CxO and VP-level stakeholders, shaping QE transformation strategy, operating models and governance, and building consulting IP and market presence in one or more of three specialisations: AI-first Strategic QE, AI Led QE and AI Assurance. This is a practice-defining advisory role, not a delivery role.
Over 20+ years in Quality Engineering, including at least 5 years in a consulting or advisory capacity, with proficiency in strategising, transformation roadmaps, executive stakeholder management and pre-sales.
Skills –
- Proven experience designing enterprise QE operating models, governance frameworks and multi-year transformation roadmaps that delivered measurable business outcomes
- Strong command of quality economics – cost-of-poor-quality, defect-escape analysis and ROI modelling – to articulate QE value in business language
- Working fluency in DevOps / continuous delivery, cloud-native engineering, SRE and observability, and how they shape quality strategy
- Practical understanding of generative AI, agentic AI and LLM-powered quality, with the judgement to separate genuine lift from vendor hype
- For AI Assurance profiles: AI/ML lifecycle, bias and fairness, red-teaming, and regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001 and GDPR
- Trusted-advisor presence at CxO / VP level, with strong stakeholder management, executive communication and workshop facilitation skills
- Experience creating consulting IP (assessment frameworks, playbooks, points of view) and supporting pre-sales and proposals
- Good to have: management consulting background (Big-4 or boutique), regulated-industry expertise (BFSI, healthcare, telecom, public sector), published thought leadership or patents, Python scripting for prototyping
Key Responsibilities
Transformation Strategy & Advisory
- Lead organisation capability assessments covering process maturity, tools landscape, automation coverage and AI readiness, producing a QE capability maturity view benchmarked against industry peers.
- Architect enterprise QE transformation blueprints across people, process and technology, with clearly identified quick wins and multi-year roadmaps.
- Build investment cases that frame quality in business terms: cost of poor quality, release velocity, revenue protection and risk reduction.
Governance & Operating Models
- Design and operationalise QE operating models and governance structures (Centres of Excellence, Quality Councils, AI-embedded autonomous pods) with KPIs anchored to business outcomes.
- Define transition strategies, change management and adoption plans so that transformation sustains beyond the consulting engagement.
- Establish predictive quality scorecards and executive-level reporting on quality metrics, risks and readiness.
Specialisation Tracks (aligned to the candidate’s focus area)
- AI-first Strategic QE – AI-augmented diagnostics, QE transformation architecture, quality economics and governance by design.
- AI Led QE – agentic AI and LLM strategy, fitment analysis and adoption roadmaps, AI-led SRE / DevOps / data intelligence consulting, scalability analysis and rapid proof-of-value engagements.
- AI Assurance – assurance frameworks for frontier and foundation models, AI red-teaming and resilience, responsible AI governance, regulatory compliance mapping (EU AI Act, GDPR, ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF), and AI sovereignty and data residency assessments.
Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
- Act as the trusted advisor to CxOs, VPs and Chief AI / Technology Officers, aligning IT, product, engineering, risk and business stakeholders around a unified quality vision.
- Facilitate executive strategy sessions and transformation workshops that build alignment and secure sustained sponsorship.
- Own steering committee narratives, progress dashboards and risk escalation across engagements.
Consulting IP, Thought Leadership & Pre-sales
- Create reusable consulting IP: assessment frameworks, benchmarking models, reference architectures and transformation playbooks.
- Shape the market through point-of-view papers, keynotes, analyst engagement and industry forums.
- Drive pre-sales advisory, shaping proposals, engagement scope and differentiated value propositions across the European market.
Team Leadership & Practice Building
- Lead and mentor consulting teams across geographies, fostering consulting rigour, analytical discipline and client readiness.
- Contribute to practice growth, talent development, hiring and capability building within IQE Consulting.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous learning, particularly as AI reshapes the discipline.
Personal
Besides the professional qualifications of the candidates, we place great importance in addition to various forms personality profile. These include:
- High analytical skills
- A high degree of initiative and flexibility
- High customer orientation
- High quality awareness
- Hypothesis-driven, structured problem solving
- Executive presence and the ability to influence at senior levels
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
