Junior Test Engineer –Structures

Licensed sponsor Staffordshire Full-time Posted 6 days ago

Do you enjoy getting hands-on and practical, but also have an eye for detail and analysis?

As a Junior Test Engineer, you’ll be putting construction products and materials through their paces, sometimes testing them to the point of destruction, to understand how they perform and whether they meet the required standards.

It’s a varied, practical role where you’ll get involved in real testing, analyse the results and help produce the technical reports our clients rely on.

What You’ll Be Doing

With training and support, you’ll

  • Set up and carry out physical and mechanical testing on construction products and components.
  • Prepare samples, test rigs and measuring equipment.
  • Collect and analyse test data.
  • Interpret test requirements, standards and specifications.
  • Produce clear and accurate technical reports.
  • Work directly with clients to understand their testing requirements.
  • Get involved in improving testing methods and how the team works.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to know everything from day one. We’re looking for someone who is curious, practical, technically minded and keen to learn.

Ideally, You’ll Have

  • A Level 3 qualification such as A-Level, BTEC or HNC in Mechanical, Construction or Civil Engineering, or another relevant technical/scientific subject.
  • Some practical engineering experience, either through work or university/college projects.
  • A methodical approach and good attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with data and writing up your findings.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to work with clients.
  • A willingness to get stuck in, learn new skills and work as part of a team.

A relevant degree, construction industry experience or basic 2D/3D CAD knowledge would be useful, but isn’t essential.
