Lathe Operative – Nightshift

We are looking for an experienced Lathe Operative to join our manufacturing team on a Nightshift. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and setting lathe machinery to manufacture high-quality components to the required specifications, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently. This role would suit someone with previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment who has a good eye for detail and takes pride in producing quality work.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate lathe machinery to manufacture components to specification.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Select and use the correct tooling for each job.
• Set machine parameters and make adjustments as required.
• Carry out in-process quality checks and dimensional inspections.
• Use measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
• Ensure components meet required tolerances and quality standards.
• Identify and report any quality issues or machine faults.
• Meet production targets and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Maintain machinery, tools and the working area in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures.
• Work independently and as part of the wider production team.

About You

The ideal candidate will have

• Previous experience operating a lathe in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience setting machinery would be advantageous.
• The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Good knowledge of machining processes and tooling.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• A reliable and hardworking approach.
• The ability to work independently during the nightshift.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday Nightshift

This is a four-day working week
