Learning and Engagement Officer

Licensed sponsor Bath Contract Posted 1 day ago

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

About the Team

We are looking for a passionate and proactive Learning & Engagement Officer (Communities & Families) to join our team on a fixed-term basis and help shape the Museum's growing programme of community engagement activities.

About the Role

Working closely with the Learning & Engagement Lead, you will develop and deliver inspiring projects, events and activities that place communities at the heart of the Museum's work. A key focus of the role will be engaging people who may face barriers to accessing and participating in cultural experiences, helping to ensure the Museum is welcoming, relevant and accessible to all.

You will build and maintain strong relationships with community partners across Bath and North East Somerset, co-creating programmes that foster inclusion, participation and meaningful social impact.

This role is central to the Museum's commitment to being a civic institution that serves and reflects the communities around it.

About You

You will have

  • Experience of working with community organisations within a museum, gallery, cultural organisation, visitor attraction or related setting.
  • A track record of planning and delivering engaging activities for diverse audiences, particularly families and community groups.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to inclusion, participation and reducing barriers to engagement.
  • An understanding of the role museums can play in supporting wellbeing, creativity and social connection.
  • An interest in fashion, design, creativity or cultural heritage.

Most importantly, you will be enthusiastic about creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds to connect with the Fashion Museum and contribute to its future.

Working Arrangements

This is a hybrid role, with time divided between

  • The Fashion Museum team office in Bath
  • Community settings across Bath & North East Somerset
  • Home working

Some evening and weekend working may be required to support programme delivery.

This opportunity is fixed-term position until 26th February 2027.
