The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Works Controller to support projects at Sellafield.
This is a critical site-based role, acting as the key interface between the client and delivery teams, ensuring that mechanical construction activities are safely planned, coordinated, and delivered in line with nuclear safety and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
Construction Oversight & Delivery
- Manage and oversee mechanical construction activities in line with CDM regulations
- Ensure works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with TDA and site licence requirements
Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
- Support development, review, and implementation of SSOw
- Deliver task briefings and manage change control processes
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture across all site activities
- Ensure incidents, risks, and near misses are managed in line with procedures
Programme & Performance Management
- Monitor construction progress against schedule
- Identify risks to delivery and implement mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and delivery teams
Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the key point of contact for in-delivery task orders
- Maintain strong working relationships with client, project teams, and subcontractors
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate project records and lifetime documentation
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent)
- CSCS Black Card (Manager)
- Mechanical discipline qualification
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience on Sellafield or within a highly regulated environment
- Proven experience supervising and coordinating complex construction activities
- Strong understanding of nuclear safety culture and CDM requirements
Security & Site Requirements
- SC Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- P4 Pass Holder (Ideally)
- Sellafield site induction and relevant nuclear safety training
Additional Requirements
- Immediately available and local to site preferred
- Experience working with Sellafield systems, processes, and plant environments
- Ability to gain/hold access to controlled areas (R2/C2, R3/C3) and work as a classified worker
