Movember Research Chair/Reader in Men's Health
The University of York invites applications from visionary research leaders for the role of Research Chair/Reader in Men’s Health. Based within the Department of Health Sciences, this pivotal appointment will sit at the heart of the newly established, world-class Movember Institute of Men’s Health.
This is a rare and significant opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a major new international research Institute at a critical moment for men’s health globally. Working alongside the Institute Director, you will play a leading role in defining the Institute’s research agenda, building interdisciplinary capacity, and translating robust evidence into real-world systems, services, and policies that effectively support men and boys across their life course.
We are seeking an established or emerging international research leader with a passion for applied health services and a collaborative ethos. You will possess an outstanding track record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications, sustained external research funding, and a proven ability to mentor early-career researchers and supervise doctoral students.
We welcome applications from a broad spectrum of cognate disciplines intersecting with men’s health, including but not limited to:
- Mental health and suicide prevention
- Cancer prevention and early detection
- Public health, primary care, and implementation science
- Health inequalities, social connection, and gender-responsive systems
- Behavioural science or digital environments
Crucially, you will excel at knowledge translation, demonstrating the ability to engage credibly with policy, health, third-sector, and community partners to achieve measurable impact beyond academia.

The University of York is deeply committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive academic community. We particularly encourage applications from women and candidates from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, who are currently under-represented in senior academic leadership roles at the University.
