About the role

Rubix is Europe’s largest supplier of industrial maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products and services. Our Insite teams work directly on customer sites, keeping critical operations running.

As our OEM Convertor, you’ll find and deliver proven alternatives to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts across our national Insite estate. You’ll use your technical product knowledge and commercial sense to cut total cost, simplify product ranges and make supply more resilient, without compromising safety, performance or customer control. You’ll own each opportunity from the first idea through to trial, approval, rollout and confirmed savings, then scale what works across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

  • Use site data, spend, lead times, failure history and obsolescence to find OEM conversion and standardisation opportunities, and keep a prioritised national pipeline of them
  • Define application and performance requirements, then gather evidence such as drawings, data sheets, samples and certificates to assess whether alternatives are truly equivalent
  • Build clear business cases covering whole-life cost, lead time, inventory impact and supply continuity, with savings baselines agreed before implementation
  • Plan and coordinate controlled trials with customers and engineering specialists, following site governance and change-control processes
  • Turn approved decisions into implementation plans covering sourcing, stock transition, data, documentation and communication
  • Roll proven solutions out across equivalent assets and sites to reduce unnecessary SKU variation and set common specifications
  • Review and improve Bills of Materials (BOMs), and make sure master data, cross-references and records reflect approved changes
  • Track realised savings, adoption, SKU reduction and supply risk, and share lessons learned and best practice across the estate

Key skills and experience

  • Strong technical product knowledge from an industrial, engineering, MRO, manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Proven experience in product substitution, cross-referencing, strategic sourcing, category management or product standardisation
  • Confident reading specifications, technical drawings and BOMs, and knowing when specialist engineering validation is needed
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, including building baselines, comparing whole-life cost and tracking measurable benefits
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to influence engineering, procurement, operations and suppliers without direct authority
  • Able to manage a multi-site project pipeline independently and keep accurate, auditable records
  • Confident with ERP systems, reporting tools and Microsoft 365
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally

Desirable

  • Experience delivering multi-site conversion or standardisation programmes, ideally in an embedded on-site or industrial distribution model
  • Knowledge of change control, value engineering, reliability or inventory optimisation
  • A technical, engineering, procurement or supply chain qualification (equivalent experience is equally valued)
