Description: Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent City Highways are responsible for maintaining and repairing over 500 miles of roads and 800 miles of footpaths within the city. We undertake construction and maintenance of highway, traffic and transport infrastructure projects, including major public realm schemes to improve the pedestrian and transport network within the City Centre. We also provide winter service and gully cleansing services in the city. The Plant and Logistics Team are made up of professionals consisting of Skilled Logistics Operatives, Plant Maintenance staff, Yard Operatives and technical and supervisory staff. Our key purpose is to support the operational needs of City Highways. This involves loading and distributing various construction materials, spoil collection from our construction sites, making sure that our fleet of LGV and HGV vehicles is maintained in compliance with the relevant legislation and corporate procedures. Join us to play a key role in supporting the operational needs of City Highways, through the supervision and planning of the Plant and Logistics section of the Commercial Team. This is a full-time, permanent role working from Monday to Friday. You'll be based at 90 Leycroft Road, however you'll be required to make occasional site visits across the city therefore you must have a full driving licence. An HGV licence is advantageous as it would allow you to support your team more actively. What you'll be doing You'll supervise and manage the programme of work for the plant and logistics staff to support requests from Operations team, ensuring the team are well briefed and have clear direction. Liaising with colleagues across the division, you'll organise routine servicing and repairs to plant and vehicles and respond to requests for equipment deliveries and spoil collections. Establishing and maintaining accurate records of plant service history, you'll ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, licence conditions and corporate procedures as well as undertake investigations into plant damage and theft. You'll obtain prices, raise purchase orders and support with procurement exercises for goods and services utilised by the P&L Team. You'll operate and drive plant vehicles and equipment. What you'll need We are looking for a committed and highly motivated professional who is determined and driven to achieve our team goals.With experience of supervising a team and strong communication skills, you'll be able to oversee the work of the team to ensure that requests are completed in time and are compliant with legislation. You'll have a good understanding of Health and Safety legislation in particular Provision and Use of Work equipment regulation (PUWER), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER)and plant repairs practices. Furthermore, you'll have a good working knowledge of waste regulations and operational management of waste transfer facilities e.g. WAMITAB Level 4. You'll be able to effectively liaise with clients and suppliers, either face to face, on the telephone or via email, showing tact and diplomacy when dealing with complaints. Appointment will be subject to an up-to-date Certificate of professional competence in road transport (CPC).
