PM261883 -Consultant Obstetrician (2 POSTS)
The Obstetrics Department at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital would like to invite candidates to apply for two vacant full-time Consultant Obstetrician posts, one with a special interest in Maternal Medicine/Pregnancy Care and the other in Early Pregnancy.
The Unit is the designated tertiary referral unit for the North East of Scotland and provides a full range of Obstetric and Gynaecological services. The Unit has responsibility for approximately 5,000 deliveries across the region each year, with more than 4,500 taking place at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, as well as approximately 9,000 Gynaecology admissions per annum.
Successful candidates will join a strong and established team of Consultant Obstetricians, Gynaecologists and academic staff.
You will be fully supported by a thriving and friendly department and will be encouraged to take forward service and academic development.
It would be desirable for candidates to have SITMs/ATSMs or relevant clinical experience in Pregnancy Care/Maternal Medicine or Early Pregnancy, depending on the post applied for. These posts are, however, designed to allow flexibility in the proposed job plan, and existing colleagues are willing to negotiate areas of responsibility to fulfil overall service needs while supporting individuals to pursue their particular special interest areas.
There are also formal departmental teaching and training responsibilities for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees included in these posts.
Essential qualifications for these posts include MRCOG or equivalent.
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post). For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration can be made to the GMC
