Product Engineer
About Ufonia
Ufonia builds autonomous clinical AI agents, so we can make healthcare available to everyone, at all times. Our platform, Dora, has completed approximately 200,000 NHS consultations across multiple specialties, delivering regulated clinical solutions supported by peer-reviewed evidence and high-impact science research. We are backed by Octopus Ventures alongside key opinion leading investors, and are scaling internationally with US expansion underway.
The work is consequential. We are ambitious to transform global healthcare. We challenge each other, everyone operates above their job title, and roles evolve rapidly.
The role
We are looking for a Product Engineer to help build the future of AI-delivered healthcare.
This is a deeply technical individual-contributor role with real product responsibility. You will work across patient and clinician experiences, the systems behind them, and the AI behaviour that makes them useful.
The problems rarely fit neatly into frontend, backend or machine learning. You will take an unclear clinical need, decide what the product should do, build it and get it into real use.
What you might work on
- Building Dora products for new areas of care
- Creating tools to build, evaluate and improve clinical agents
- Designing products used to create and improve Dora pathways
- Extending the patient experience beyond a phone call
- Integrating with EHRs and turning clinical data into useful products
Your first 90 days
You will:
- Take ownership of a live clinical problem
- Work with your team to define what should be built
- Deliver it across the product, agent and underlying systems
- Ship it into live use and evaluate its impact
What we look for
We care more about what you have delivered, and its impact, than whether your CV matches a checklist.
The strongest evidence is a product you have shipped and can discuss in depth: the problem, your decisions, what was difficult and what happened when people used it. Public work is not required.
You will probably do well here if you:
- Are an excellent engineer who can go deep and learn quickly
- Have strong product judgement and care about clarity, speed and user experience
- Can turn an unclear problem into a simple first version
- Enjoy solving problems in a small cross-functional team
- Are comfortable across the stack
- Understand how to make LLM and agent capabilities dependable
- Communicate clearly and take responsibility for the result
Healthcare or regulated-product experience is useful but not required.
How we work
Product Engineers own outcomes rather than wait for detailed specifications. You will work directly with users, form a point of view, make product and technical decisions, and take work through to production.
We work closely across Engineering, Product and Clinical, with little management overhead. We favour small releases and real feedback.
Evaluation, clinical review and observability are part of the product from the start. We also use AI tools heavily and expect you to use them fluently while remaining accountable for the quality of your work.
