We’re looking for an experienced Programme Manager to lead the delivery of our Electrical Outage & Vegetation Management Programme across the Northern Powergrid (NPG) network, based from our Durham City office.
In this role, you’ll coordinate short cycle vegetation works and planned outages to support safe access to the overhead power network, ensuring full compliance with NPG specifications and all contractual, safety and environmental requirements. You’ll work closely with the Operations Manager, Delivery Manager, planners, field teams and NPG stakeholders to deliver the programme safely, efficiently and on time.
We’re seeking a strong, confident leader with excellent communication skills, a structured approach, and the ability to manage multiple fast moving workstreams in a dynamic operational environment.

What Will Your Day Look Like…
- Define programme objectives, scope and deliverables in line with NPG vegetation and outage re-quirements.
- Plan and coordinate outages required for vegetation clearance, ensuring safe access and minimal dis-ruption to the network.
- Oversee multiple short cycle projects, ensuring alignment with contractual KPIs and operational priori-ties.
- Manage daily programme operations, including resource allocation, scheduling and performance mon-itoring.
- Act as the primary point of contact for NPG, internal teams and field delivery partners, providing clear updates and management information.
- Identify and mitigate programme risks, including environmental constraints such as nesting season and restricted access.
- Drive process improvements to enhance planning accuracy, productivity and reporting quality.
- Promote equality and inclusion in all working practices and team interactions.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including safe systems of work around live electri-cal assets.
- Use technology effectively to support programme governance, reporting and operational compliance.
- A proven ability to manage high volume, short cycle operational programmes.
- Experience coordinating planned outages or working around electrical infrastructure.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support multidisciplinary teams.
- A structured, process driven mindset with excellent organisational skills.
- Confidence in producing and interpreting management information (MI) to drive performance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakehold-ers.
