SAP Enterprise Solution Architect

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• End-to-End Solution Architecture:

Own and maintain the end-to-end Enterprise solution architecture, including current, transition and target states. Ensure that process, application, data, integration, security, infrastructure and operational designs work together as one coherent solution.

• Requirements Translation & Solution Options:

Translate business outcomes and functional and non-functional requirements into architecture options and implementable designs. Assess trade-offs across value, risk, cost, complexity, delivery feasibility and long-term supportability, and document clear recommendations.

• Apply fit-to-standard and clean-core principles, challenging unnecessary customisation and protecting upgradeability.
• Define fit-for-purpose changes to SAP and connected non-SAP systems, including integration, data and security impacts.
• Ensure design decisions support performance, resilience, scalability, compliance, operability and business continuity.
• Cross-Workstream Design Integration:

Coordinate solution design across Enterprise workstreams and delivery partners. Identify cross-domain dependencies, resolve design conflicts and maintain traceability from requirements and architecture decisions through detailed design and delivery.

• Delivery Enablement:

Provide architecture guidance throughout build, test, cutover, deployment and transition to service. Work with engineering, testing, release, security, infrastructure and service teams to ensure the implemented solution remains aligned with the approved design.

• Landscape, Integration & Data Coherence:

Maintain a holistic view of the SAP and non-SAP landscape, interfaces and data flows affected by S/4HANA Migration. Ensure integration and data designs are consistent, secure, supportable and aligned with the programme deployment approach.

• Stakeholder & Partner Leadership:

Collaborate with business process owners, product and platform teams, Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Data, Infrastructure, Service Management and programme leadership. Set clear design expectations for systems integrators and specialist partners and provide concise recommendations to senior stakeholders.

• Risk, Dependency & Technical Debt Management:

Identify solution risks, assumptions, dependencies, gaps and technical debt early. Define mitigations, escalate material issues and ensure agreed actions are reflected in architecture artefacts and delivery plans.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• SAP S/4HANA Solution Expertise:

Strong experience designing and delivering complex SAP S/4HANA solutions in large, integrated enterprise environments. Good understanding of clean core, fit-to-standard, extensibility, SAP BTP and SAP integration patterns.

• Architecture Governance & Decision-Making Capability:

Proven ability to apply architecture governance, assess solution options, document decision rationale, and guide stakeholders through trade-offs across business value, technical risk, delivery feasibility and long-term supportability.

• Complex Transformation Delivery:

Experience operating in complex transformation environments, balancing strategic architecture direction with pragmatic delivery constraints, dependency management and implementation realities.

• Business & Commercial Acumen:

Ability to understand business processes and outcomes, evaluate value and total cost implications, and challenge delivery partners constructively. Comfortable making recommendations where requirements, constraints or stakeholder priorities conflict.

• Leadership, Collaboration & Communication:

Strong facilitation, influencing and stakeholder-management skills. Able to communicate complex architecture choices clearly to business, technology and executive audiences, and to bring multidisciplinary teams together around clear, well-reasoned design recommendations.

DIMENSIONS:

Strategic Scope

Global SAP S/4HANA transformation programme. Accountable for end-to-end solution architecture, design integrity and key solution decisions across SAP.

Owns the IT architecture strategy and approach for SAP S/4HANA.

Leads architecture activities across SAP Landscape, ensuring consistency, design integrity and alignment with enterprise standards.

Reporting Level

Leads and coordinates solution architecture contributors across programme workstreams and delivery partners. Provides technical and design leadership across contributors without necessarily holding direct line-management accountability.
