Senior Data Modeller

Synechron is looking for an experienced Senior Data Modeller to design and develop the data models underpinning a globally governed product reference data capability, for a well known global bank. You will work with business stakeholders, architects, governance teams and technology leaders to translate complex requirements into scalable data structures, taxonomies and hierarchies.

Role:

• Design and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models
• Develop product taxonomies, classifications, hierarchies and relationship models
• Define product identities, identifiers, variants, bundles and global/local relationships
• Design mapping frameworks between enterprise product data and operational systems
• Model product lifecycles, effective dating, versioning, history and supersession
• Establish global core models with controlled country, market, legal entity and channel extensions
• Embed data quality, critical data elements, metadata and lineage requirements into model design
• Lead scenario-based validation, identify model gaps and document outcomes
• Translate logical models into scalable, high-performing database designs
• Establish modelling standards, naming conventions, documentation and governance practices
• Facilitate model walkthroughs and collaborate with architects, analysts, governance teams and senior stakeholders

Experience:

• 10+ years’ experience in data modelling within complex enterprise environments
• 7+ years in a senior data modelling or data architecture role
• Strong experience delivering conceptual, logical and physical data models at scale
• Proven expertise in product reference data, master data, taxonomies and classification frameworks
• Advanced knowledge of relational and dimensional modelling, database design, normalisation and optimisation
• Experience with temporal data, effective dating, hierarchies and lifecycle modelling
• Familiarity with NoSQL, document or graph database modelling is desirable
• Proficiency with data modelling tools such as erwin, ERDPlus, Lucidchart, Visio or equivalent
• Understanding of cloud databases, ETL/ELT, APIs, event-driven architecture and enterprise data platforms
• Knowledge of data quality, lineage, metadata, security and governance principles
• Experience designing global solutions with controlled regional or local variation
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and documentation skills

This is a long term rolling contract - x3 days as week in London office - Strong market rates inside IR35
