Senior Telecoms Engineering Manager

Licensed sponsor London Full-time Posted 1 hour ago

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Your expertise will help ensure complex telecoms engineering is delivered safely, consistently and to the right technical standards.

You will bring senior technical judgement to projects where effective assurance, compliance and professional challenge genuinely matter. By identifying risks early, strengthening engineering controls and helping teams address gaps before they become problems, you will protect project outcomes, client confidence and the quality of delivery.

This is an opportunity to influence more than one assignment. Your combination of telecoms leadership and auditing capability could support work across different engineering sectors, including potential opportunities connected with Network Rail. You will help strengthen how engineering decisions are made, assured and implemented.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Telecoms Engineering Manager who can combine strong telecoms knowledge with practical experience in engineering assurance, compliance and audit. You will provide credible senior technical leadership, strengthen engineering governance and help project teams understand and apply the required standards, controls and assurance processes.

You will review engineering delivery, identify potential gaps in compliance or technical quality, and lead or contribute to audits. Where standards are not being met, you will have the authority to ask difficult questions, provide constructive professional challenge and work with technical and project stakeholders to develop practical, proportionate solutions.

The role offers considerable breadth, with opportunities to support different projects, clients and sectors where telecoms engineering, assurance or auditing expertise is required. This may include work associated with Network Rail, subject to business and project needs, as well as wider telecoms, rail and engineering assignments.

You will build trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, provide balanced and evidence-based technical advice, and share your knowledge to strengthen assurance capability across teams. Success will mean risks are identified early, engineering standards are consistently applied and clients have confidence in the quality and integrity of the work being delivered.

Here's what you'll need

  • Significant professional experience in telecoms engineering, with the credibility to operate at a senior technical or engineering-management level.
  • Experience of engineering assurance, audit, compliance or technical governance within a regulated or safety-critical environment.
  • The ability to assess engineering delivery against relevant standards, controls and client requirements.
  • Confidence working with senior engineers, project leaders and client stakeholders.
  • The judgement to identify material engineering risks and recommend practical, proportionate actions.
