Specialty Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics
Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedics based at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, Bangor. This vacant post is within the existing compliment of 10 specialty doctors supporting the work of 14 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons over a range of Trauma & Orthopaedic sub-specialties. The successful candidate will join a friendly and enthusiastic team, and will partake in the trauma on-call rota.
The hard-working, highly motivated, dedicated team of Consultants, Medical and Nursing staff, provide a high quality, modern service in a rapidly developing unit. The Department provides elective and emergency in-patient, day-case and outpatient services to a catchment area of approximately 240,000 residents.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with one or two individual consultants for six-month periods and will be encouraged to develop some independence in a chosen interest. There will be other clinical commitments, with responsibility to the consultant in charge of a particular patient. Typical weekly sessions will include: 3 Outpatient Clinic (Orthopaedic / Fracture) 2 Elective surgery 1 Trauma list 1 Ward Round / Admin 2 Education / Audit / Research / Management The post holder will share out of hours with nine other specialty doctor level doctors.
