Supply Chain Manager

  • Location: Barnsley
  • Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus
  • Business: The Compleat Food Group
  • We’re looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our team in Barnsley and take ownership of the end-to-end supply chain operation at site.

This is a senior site leadership role with responsibility across planning, materials, warehousing and logistics, ensuring we have the right products, materials and people in the right place at the right time.

Working closely with the Site GM and wider operational leadership team, you’ll play a key role in improving customer service, reducing waste and stockholding, managing costs and building a high-performing supply chain function.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the site's supply chain strategy across planning, materials, warehousing and logistics.
  • Own S&OP, demand planning, production planning and capacity planning processes.
  • Ensure raw materials and packaging are available to meet production requirements while controlling stock levels and waste.
  • Develop labour and capacity plans in line with customer demand.
  • Drive improvements in customer service, stockholding, material variances, waste and overall supply chain cost.
  • Manage logistics, transport and distribution activity, ensuring strong on-time delivery performance.
  • Identify potential supply chain risks and put effective contingency plans in place.
  • Work closely with Operations, Commercial, Technical and Finance to make informed decisions and resolve issues quickly.
  • Lead, coach and develop the supply chain team, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure high standards across food safety, GMP, hygiene, health and safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Use data and insight to identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve performance.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an established supply chain leader who understands the realities of operating in a fast-paced food or FMCG manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you’ll have

  • At least 5 years' supply chain experience within food or FMCG manufacturing.
  • Experience leading teams across planning, logistics, warehouse and materials.
  • Strong knowledge of S&OP, demand forecasting, production planning and inventory management.
  • Experience working with short shelf-life products, production constraints and changing customer demand.
  • A strong understanding of stock rotation, FEFO, waste reduction and working capital.
  • Experience working with major retailers, suppliers and third-party logistics providers.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, GMP, HACCP and traceability requirements.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP and wider supply chain systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel capability.
  • A proven track record of improving service, cost, waste and stock performance.
  • The ability to lead and develop teams while influencing stakeholders across the wider business.

The person

You’ll be someone who is comfortable making decisions in a busy manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly.

You’ll be commercially minded, analytical and results-focused, but just as importantly, a strong people leader who can bring teams with you. You’ll challenge where needed, take ownership when things go wrong and constantly look for ways to make the supply chain simpler and more effective.
