As a Technical Architect within our Advanta TECH GB&I team, you will turn complex challenges into real-world impact. You will lead end-to-end architectures for cutting-edge IoT, Digital Twin, Smart Grid, and Metering solutions that modernise critical infrastructure and accelerate the clean energy transition.
How you’ll make an impact
- Drive End-to-End Solution Architecture: Lead the technical vision from presales discovery through detailed design, implementation, and deployment—ensuring solutions are resilient, scalable, and commercially viable.
- Shape Complex Digital Ecosystems: Design reference architectures, integration blueprints, and roadmaps across Cloud, On-Premises, and hybrid environments.
- Collaborate Across Boundaries: Partner with clients, product managers, software engineering teams, and regulatory bodies to translate complex business needs into clear architectural artefacts.
- Pioneer Emerging Technologies: Evaluate modern stacks (IoT, AI/ML, cloud-native platforms) and provide architectural guidance across the wider organisation.
- Champion Non-Functional Excellence: Embed high availability, security, resilience, disaster recovery, and agile practices into all solution designs.
What you’ll bring to the team
We look for technical depth paired with curiosity and collaboration. If you have substantial experience architecting complex software solutions, we’d love to connect.
- Architecture & Systems Mastery:
- Proven track record designing large-scale enterprise software and IT/OT architectures.
- Deep expertise in cloud and platform architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP, hybrid/on-prem), hosting models, microservices, and database strategies.
- Solid grounding in cross-system integration, networking, security, and resilience.
- Energy & Utility Domain Insight
- Experience delivering OT or software solutions in GB&I regulated utility and energy markets (Electricity, Gas, Water, Renewables).
- Familiarity with Smart Grid systems, SCADA, Meter Data Management (MDM)—such as Siemens GridScale X or equivalent—OMS, GIS, or WFM solutions is a plus.
- Modern Tech Stack & Delivery:
- Experience with Cloud Service Platforms, IoT platforms, distributed systems, and modern software development.
- Familiarity with or strong interest in AI/ML solutions and digital twin integrations.
- Hands-on proficiency with open architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), agile delivery, and creating architectural viewpoints.
- GridScale X or equivalent—OMS, GIS, or WFM solutions is a plus.
- Consulting & Communication:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate architectural decisions clearly to both development teams and executive stakeholders.
