About The Role
We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to join our team as a Technical Policy Manager. In this pivotal role, you’ll help drive our business planning and asset management ambitions, working collaboratively across Northumbrian Water Group to deliver long-term service strategies and optimised plans that make a real difference.
You’ll join a small team of technical leaders shaping our future plans for Water assets. Your work will directly influence how we manage our assets and maintain asset health, through the development and review of technical strategies that support our service delivery goals.
This is a role where innovation meets impact. You’ll be scanning the horizon for emerging technologies, technical research, and creative solutions that support our ambitious business objectives. Your insights and leadership will help us stay ahead of the curve and deliver services more efficiently and sustainably.
Building strong relationships will be central to your success. You’ll engage with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and industry peers to ensure our strategies are supported, endorsed, and actionable. You’ll also represent NWG externally, raising our profile and ensuring we remain at the forefront of best practice and innovation in the utility sector.
If you’re passionate about shaping the future of water services and thrive in a collaborative, strategic environment, we’d love to hear from you.
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a strong background in strategic planning and asset management within large, complex organisations. You’ll have experience in developing technical reports, policies, and strategies that drive meaningful change and support long-term goals.
We’re looking for someone who can apply sophisticated analytical thinking to complex challenges, someone who can weigh up multiple options, interpret data from various sources, and develop innovative, evidence-based solutions. Your ability to define problems and explore new ideas through extensive research will be key to your success.
You’ll need to be confident working with data from multiple systems, using it to inform decisions and shape future plans. An understanding of emerging theories, systems, and practices across different disciplines will help you navigate fast-changing environments and stay ahead of the curve.
It would be a bonus if you have insight into the utility industry and the external factors that influence it, whether political, economic, social, or technological. Experience within or understanding of operational systems would be valuable, but not essential.
If you also have technical knowledge of the Water ‘source to tap’ lifecycle and the UK water industry’s regulatory framework, that’s great, but for the right candidate, we’ll provide the support and training to get you up to speed.
Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment
