About Us
The Financial Ombudsman Service is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that plays a vital role in UK financial services. Every day we help resolve disputes between consumers, or small businesses, and their financial service providers.
The purpose of this role is to provide end-to-end coordination and assurance for technology change, ensuring the right people, plans, governance and support arrangements are in place from the outset through to implementation and transition into live service.
You will work across infrastructure, architecture, service delivery, application management and engineering, bringing together the technology activity needed to deliver change safely and effectively. You will ensure technical, testing, service and operational requirements are identified early, with clear ownership, dependencies and delivery plans in place.
You will act as a critical link between technology teams and wider stakeholders, including product owners, business owners, project and change managers, and third-party suppliers. You will maintain alignment throughout delivery, facilitate timely decisions and ensure risks or issues are addressed at the appropriate stage.
A key focus of the role is ensuring that change is designed and delivered with its future operation in mind. You will coordinate business readiness and service transition, ensuring service ownership, support models, resources, documentation, knowledge transfer and warranty arrangements are in place before change moves into business-as-usual operation.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate Technology Change Delivery - Engage the right technology, business and delivery stakeholders from the outset, coordinating activity across infrastructure, architecture, engineering, service delivery, application management, security, testing and support teams to ensure successful end-to-end delivery.
- Provide Delivery Assurance and Governance - Ensure requirements, dependencies, resources and responsibilities are clearly understood and managed, maintaining oversight of risks, issues and decisions while supporting appropriate technical, project, architecture and change governance.
- Lead Service Transition and Operational Readiness - Ensure services are ready for live operation through effective service transition planning, including support models, documentation, knowledge transfer, implementation, warranty support and post-implementation review activities to drive continuous improvement.
To be considered for this role, you’ll need to show us that you’ve got the skills and capabilities. You’ll have to meet the following minimum criteria:
Minimum Criteria –
- Experience Coordinating complex technology change across multiple technical, operational and business teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to translate technical delivery information into clear updates for non-technical and senior stakeholders. Working collaboratively with product owners, business owners, project and change managers, technical specialists, operational teams and third-party suppliers.
- Working across technology disciplines such as infrastructure, architecture, engineering, application management, security, testing and service delivery.
- Understanding the end-to-end technology change lifecycle, from early engagement and design through to implementation, warranty and business-as-usual handover.
- Coordinating service transition and operational readiness for new or changed technology services.
- Managing complex risks, dependencies, decisions, resource constraints and competing delivery priorities.
- Experience working across Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery approaches.
It would also be nice for you to have
- While not essential, knowledge of IT service management practices and experience across cloud, infrastructure, application, integration or digital service environments would be beneficial.
