About The Role

  • Level: 3
  • Department: Information Security
  • Location: London, United Kingdom or Southampton, United Kingdom
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Regulated/Non-Regulated: Non-Regulated

The Testing and Exercising Analyst sits within Quilter’s Resilience and Crisis Team (RCT), using resilience data to identify testing priorities and produce clear management information. The role also coordinates exercise preparation, delivery and follow-up, including maintaining records, capturing learning and tracking actions. The Testing and Exercising Specialist owns the methodology, programme and scenario design, while the Analyst provides the analysis, coordination and evidence needed to deliver them effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain a current view of testing coverage across Important Business Services, resilience domains, impact tolerance severity, CMORG requirements and key dependencies.
  • Analyse operational resilience mapping, dependency, vulnerability, incident and previous exercise data to identify gaps, anomalies, recurring themes and opportunities for targeted testing, prioritised by risk, impact, recurrence and coverage.
  • Produce accurate testing management information, dashboards and evidence that clearly set out findings, limitations and required actions.
  • Support exercise preparation by coordinating stakeholders, schedules, materials, logistics, data and supporting documentation.
  • Support exercise delivery by maintaining an accurate record of decisions, observations, issues, evidence and key learning.
  • Support debriefs and post-exercise reporting by collating evidence, analysing outcomes and helping translate findings into clear, measurable actions.
  • Record exercises, findings and actions in Resolver or other agreed systems, monitor progress and escalate overdue or material remediation through agreed governance routes.
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely completion of remediation actions from action owners.
  • Undertake trend and thematic analysis across exercises, incidents, findings and actions, challenging assumptions and assessing data quality to identify systemic weaknesses and recommend proportionate maturity improvements.
  • Help maintain testing records, templates, guidance and audit trails in line with the methodology owned by the Testing and Exercising Specialist.
  • Build effective relationships with business owners, Operational Resilience Specialists, Technology, Cyber, Risk, Threat Intelligence and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in the RCT on-call arrangements, subject to appropriate training and competence, and support crisis response and wider RCT priorities when required.

About You

You will be organised, analytical and curious, with the confidence to work across different teams and turn complex information into clear insights and actions. You do not need to be a testing specialist, as the role provides opportunities to develop your operational resilience and exercising expertise.

Essential

  • Experience of analysing qualitative and quantitative information from multiple sources and presenting balanced, evidence-based findings, trends and recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records, evidence, actions and audit trails.
  • Good planning, coordination and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise reports and management information that explain what the evidence shows, what it does not show, why it matters and what action should follow for different audiences.
  • Confidence working with data, spreadsheets, dashboards or reporting tools to identify patterns, anomalies, gaps and themes, recognise data-quality limitations and avoid unsupported conclusions.
  • Excel capability and experience using Power BI or similar data-visualisation tools.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships with business, technology, risk and specialist stakeholders and to follow up actions appropriately.
  • A proactive, investigative and critical-thinking mindset, with sound judgement and the ability to test assumptions, distinguish symptoms from root causes and challenge information constructively.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with colleagues and seeking guidance where decisions sit with the Testing and Exercising Specialist or RCT Manager.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting exercises, incidents, operational resilience, business continuity, risk, assurance or similar activities.
  • Knowledge of operational resilience concepts and financial-services regulatory expectations.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or equivalent practical experience gained in financial services, a corporate environment, the public sector, military, law enforcement or government.
