Transaction Monitoring Analyst
We are looking for a Transaction Monitoring Analyst to join our Financial Intelligence Unit and help us identify, investigate and respond to financial crime risks across our growing range of financial products.
Our team monitors activity across both individual and corporate customers, covering fiat payments, cards and crypto transactions across multiple jurisdictions. As Altery grows, launches new products and expands into new markets, the volume and complexity of transaction monitoring activity is increasing — making timely, high-quality investigations increasingly important.
You’ll join a small, hands-on team where you’ll own investigations end-to-end, make and defend risk-based decisions, and have the opportunity to improve the processes and controls behind how we work.
- Investigate transaction monitoring alerts end-to-end, analysing customer behaviour, transaction patterns and available intelligence to identify potential money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and other financial crime risks.
- Work across a diverse range of customers and products, including individual and corporate accounts, fiat payments, cards and crypto transactions.
- Make independent, risk-based decisions on alerts and investigations, escalating suspicious activity where appropriate and clearly documenting and defending your rationale.
- Conduct holistic investigations using customer and transaction data, adverse media, public sources, blockchain analysis and other relevant information, including requesting additional information where needed.
- Prepare clear, audit-ready case documentation and suspicious activity escalations, while working closely with Compliance, Customer Support, Financial Crime Analytics and other stakeholders.
- Help improve how we work by identifying recurring issues, emerging financial crime typologies and opportunities to strengthen or streamline our transaction monitoring processes and controls.
- 2+ years of relevant Financial Crime / AML experience, with hands-on exposure to transaction monitoring, AML investigations or closely related financial crime operations.
- Experience investigating multiple products, customer types or financial crime workstreams rather than specialising exclusively in one narrow area; exposure to both individual and corporate customers is particularly valuable.
- Strong understanding of AML/CTF risks and financial crime typologies, with the ability to independently assess suspicious activity and explain and defend risk-based decisions.
- Experience within EMIs, payments, fintech, banking or similar regulated financial services; exposure to multi-jurisdictional environments is a strong advantage.
- Exposure to crypto and blockchain investigations — ideally including blockchain analytics tools — alongside a solid understanding of traditional fiat transaction monitoring.
- A proactive and collaborative working style: you’re comfortable working autonomously, take feedback on board, maintain high standards of investigation and documentation, and look for opportunities to improve existing processes.
