2027 Graduate Economic Analyst - London

Licensed sponsor London Full-time Posted 2 days ago

Frontier Economics is an economics consultancy that tackles the big questions facing governments, businesses and society. We help our clients to analyse and understand their markets and to formulate strategies based on sound economics. The methods and models we use are often complex, but our advice is always succinct, clear and honest.

We advise across sectors and countries and we are one of the largest economic consultancies in Europe with more than 350 Economists based in our offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, London, Madrid, Paris and Prague. Owned entirely by our staff, our business attracts the best people and the most interesting work. We go beyond the numbers to find out what's really going on. Our clients enjoy objective advice, clearly expressed.

With our help, they make better decisions and get better results. About the role Our Graduate Analyst programme runs for two years and is designed for those with a Master's degree with a strong focus on Economics. The work is varied. You might analyse data, build or develop an economic model, research a market, test assumptions or sensitivities, contribute to a client presentation, or help turn detailed analysis into a clear conclusion.

We do not expect you to know how to do everything from day one. You will build strong economic and technical foundations and, as you develop, take increasing ownership of your work, apply your judgement and contribute your own ideas. What you'll be doing You will use economics and analysis to help answer real-world client questions. With support from experienced colleagues, you will build your skills and gradually take on more responsibility.

Your work could involve:

  • applying economic frameworks and empirical techniques to real-world problems
  • working with data and evidence, using Excel confidently and developing your skills in tools such as R
  • researching unfamiliar topics and deciding what information is most relevant
  • taking questions that may not be fully defined, working out what is really being asked and shaping a sensible approach to answering them
  • testing assumptions, checking the quality of analysis and thinking about what the results mean
  • contributing to reports, presentations and client meetings
  • managing your own tasks and deadlines, and raising questions or risks at the right time
  • working collaboratively with colleagues across projects and offices
  • contributing to wider Frontier initiatives. As you develop, we will increasingly encourage you not just to produce analysis, but to form a view on it: to ask good questions, explain your reasoning, challenge assumptions and think about what should happen next. Technology, including Generative AI, is increasingly part of how we work. You may use it to support areas such as research, coding, analysis, drafting and quality assurance. What matters is using these tools thoughtfully and responsibly: understanding the underlying problem, checking and challenging outputs, and remaining accountable for the quality of your work. What you'll get out of it You'll gain two years of hands-on economic consulting experience across a variety of projects, supported by training, mentoring and seminars. You'll work with and learn from colleagues across Frontier, including opportunities to collaborate across our European offices. As your experience grows, you'll have the opportunity to tackle less-prescriptive problems, develop greater independence and build the judgement and ownership needed for the next stages of your career. You'll also join a collaborative and supportive environment where different perspectives are valued and where asking questions, sharing ideas and learning from feedback are an important part of how we work. What we're looking for There are a small number of essential requirements for the role. You will be predicted or will have achieved a 2:1 or above in an Economics-focused degree (or equivalent: Germany 2.0 or better, Netherlands 7.0+, France 14+, Spain 7.0+), together with a Master's degree with a strong economic focus. You will also need to be fluent in the language of the office to which you are applying, except Brussels, where English is sufficient. Beyond these requirements, we are interested in how you think, how you approach problems and how you learn. You may be someone who:
  • has a strong interest in microeconomics and in applying economics to real-world questions
  • enjoys working with data, evidence and analytical problems
  • is curious and willing to get to grips with unfamiliar topics
  • asks thoughtful questions and is prepared to challenge assumptions
  • can make sense of an unclear problem, identify what matters and explain your reasoning clearly
  • takes ownership of your work while recognising when to ask for input
  • works well with others and values different perspectives
  • is organised and able to manage deadlines
  • responds positively to feedback and wants to keep developing. You should be comfortable using Excel for analysis. Familiarity with R will be useful. We are also interested in people who are ready to use new technology, including AI, effectively, critically and responsibly as part of their work. You do not need to arrive with extensive experience of these tools, but you should be curious about how they can be used well and prepared to develop your skills as technology evolves. Prior professional experience of economic consulting or AI is not required. The academic and language requirements above are essential. For the other skills and experiences, we do not expect every candidate to arrive with everything fully developed. If the role interests you and you are keen to learn, we encourage you to apply. How to apply If you would like to join Frontier as a Graduate Analyst, please submit an application to your preferred office.
