Commercial IP Lawyer, 4+ PQE, London
We are looking for an experienced IP Lawyer to join our nationally recognised, growing Tier 2 IP team. This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead role on a broad range of primarily non-contentious IP matters, while working within a collaborative, supportive, and ambitious team with a strong development and promotion framework.
Our UK IP practice advises an impressive client base, including FTSE 100–250 businesses and SMEs across sectors such as retail and consumer, financial services, defence, pharmaceuticals, and engineering. We support clients across the full IP lifecycle, from risk assessments, R&D agreements and brand management to the protection, commercialisation, and strategic exploitation of IP through licensing, franchising, and wider transactional arrangements.
You will lead and support on a wide variety of IP-focused transactions and advisory matters, including IP asset purchase agreements, patent, trade mark and software licensing, research and development arrangements, technology transfer agreements, confidentiality agreements and franchise agreements. The role will also involve supporting corporate transactions, including M&A, asset sales and security deals, with opportunities to work alongside our IP disputes partners on infringement and enforcement matters.
We are looking for a qualified lawyer with at least 4 years' PQE in intellectual property law, strong transactional experience and confidence leading matters and managing client relationships. You should be strategic, consultative, and commercially minded, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams to deadlines.
Experience in registered IP prosecution, portfolio strategy, corporate transactions, or defence-related work would be advantageous, as would sector expertise in retail and consumer, advanced manufacturing, or life sciences. An IP postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential.
