Delivery Manager (Data & Measurement)- London

Licensed sponsor London Temporary Posted 1 day ago

About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Delivery Manager, Retail Media (Data & Measurement) to work for our client within the Retail sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.

Our client is seeking a Delivery Manager to join its Retail Media function, its loyalty, insights and retail media business. The role supports a data-led team of data scientists, analytics specialists and measurement engineers that has a backlog of fixes running behind schedule and has had no agile support to date. You will prioritise the backlog, drive it to closure and put in place the planning, flow and prioritisation practices that make the team’s delivery predictable. This is an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and the client needs someone who is self-managing and can bring structure without being guided step by step.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritise the backlog of fixes that is currently behind schedule and drive it to closure
  • Establish planning, flow and prioritisation practices to improve the team’s predictability, which is currently low
  • Coach the team in agile ways of working and help it mature, as it has had no dedicated agile support
  • Work with data scientists, analytics teams and measurement engineers, adapting your approach to different working styles
  • Own RAID, decision management and governance, keeping them simple and evidence-based
  • Surface and escalate risks, blockers and cultural issues clearly, showing leadership where to focus
  • Structure and maintain Jira to give one source of truth, and report on delivery using flow metrics
  • Look for opportunities to automate status reporting and other delivery management tasks

About You

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in delivery management in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
  • Strong agile skills, with experience developing a team’s planning, flow and prioritisation, ideally with a team new to agile
  • Experience of improving predictability using data-led delivery metrics
  • Comfort working with data-led teams and a range of personality types, without getting drawn into the technical detail
  • Strong delivery fundamentals: RAID, decision management, governance and clear, evidence-based reporting
  • Advanced Jira, including structuring hierarchies, workflows and dependency tracking to give one source of truth
  • Experience using delivery metrics such as flow, cycle time and throughput to show whether delivery is improving
  • Experience of, or strong interest in, applying AI and automation to delivery management (for example Copilot for status reports and RAID)
  • Proven ability to escalate problems clearly and early, rather than absorbing them
  • Strong stakeholder management, including with senior stakeholders, and resilience when priorities shift
  • Self-managing, with the confidence to take the lead, challenge the current way of working and propose improvements without close guidance
